Smoking and Socializing

Would say smoking makes you more social? Now, before someone says "UTFSE" - i'm not talking about being high. I'm talking about the actual act of smoking.

For example. Today a couple of friends and I went to Marley Fest - joined a circle, passed around some bowls and joints and everyone was laughing and having a good time. But it seemed like once everyone stopped smoking - they stopped talking.

So, would you say smoking makes you more social?
 
yea definitaly, its a familiar act to all of us (stoners) and bridges the akwardness, i have noticed a similar thing.
 
when i'm stoned around non-stoned people i feel awkward and out of place.
when i'm stoned around stoned people i tend to just space out anyway.
but i enjoy socializing while i'm coming down. promotes calmness and good vibes.
 
Nope, I didn't notice it in my case... We're still talking, but only about drugs now XD
 
Smoking can certainty be a good social lubricant, especially for stoners because we are usually passing our smoke, that act alone sends off nothing but good vibes (who doesn't like to see a blunt coming their way?).

In my experience, the talking doesn't end till the high does, but your point about the act of smoking is valid and pretty common in my experience
 
What I like to do with 2 best friends is pitch in on a really high ammount and just smoke it all in one night till we start to fall asleep.
 
^^^ That's the best, there's nothing like smoking with good friends and you know they all don't care how retarded you get. The goal is to just smoke until you don't know what you're doing... Eat lots of food, listen to good music, discuss various theories about things... and drift off into the stoned oblivion :):):) xD

Yeh I think the act of smoking definitely good in socialization.
But when i'm stoned I'm generally more quite and don't talk as much.
 
The act itself makes me very social but at a certain point I just don't want to talk anymore and just eat and masturbate, lol.

idk, i always thought playing with others was more fun than playing with myself
 
smoking definately bridges a gap between new aquaintances... basically it gives you all something in common... i believe that has a lot to do with the chattiness of smokers. being stoned also allows you to drift off without seeming rude... everybody knows you're just messed up, not isolating

^^^ and yes playing with others should definately come first over playing with yourself
 
Seems to bring people together and rip people apart round here. It's cool when the day starts, we all meet up and get on the case of buying some. Whilst somebody who already has a bit rolls up and passes round. Buy roll & smoke. Then people split off into smaller groups which act shadey to all the other smaller groups. :(
 
If its people I know, it makes things very very cool. If it's people I dont know in an environment I'm not used to, it can make things a little hard. I usually just sit there tripping out from all the 'new' things I'm seeing. Talking is almost...impossible at that stage.
 
I do believe the common detail of having a bowl infront of every one gives grounds on which to conversate. I try to make sure that i meet up with my smoking buddies when we are not smoking to ensure that our relationship isnt based only on the fact that someone has some weed. I feel like its more important to value the person and not the benefit of getting high, although it does add to the whole experience. Sorry to seem so old fashioned>> My fiance doesnt like tio do anything after he smokes. He feels that conversating or doing anything that requires a mediated response from his cerebellum is to much work. So, we are all different!
 
Sort of, it does stimulate interaction to a point. Coming from an ex heavy cannabis user who tended to smoke with people who were also heavy users, its not much difference and the focus tends to be on whos bong it is and how long till your bong. I mean it doesn't exactly promote conversation or activity, you are just all focused on the same thing. Compared to when you are all high and sort of just chilling, it doesn't neccessarily make you anti-social when your with your smoking crew but you can all be spacing out doing your own thing or whatever and its not exactly social.
 
i don't think marijuana makes one a more social personality, but it can calm and relax tension, whic can lead to more free socializing at a gathering
 
I smoke with others all the time, although truthfully I enjoy weed alone better. I like to smoke a bowl, kick back and watch a movie or play a video game, it's just not a drug that enhances sociability for me. There are other things for that. ;)
