Cannabis users 'suffering new syndrome'

it seems likely that the withdrawal effect is the culprit, perhaps something precipitates the w/d effect in these people when normally there is a lot of fatty storage etc which evens out the concentration

To me, it sounds like they are describing marijuana withdrawl symptoms. I get stomach pains, nausea, and vomit when i do not smoke after smoking everyday very heavily for a long time. I will only get the nausea when i try to eat and after eating. If it gets bad enough, i do throw up from the nausea. I could be sooo hungry yet my appetite is fucked up. However after stopping for a few weeks, my body returns to normal again and i can eat with no problems.

Some people dont believe in this, but i just think that they arent smoking enough to cause these withdrawl effects to happen to them.

And btw, no hot bath or shower will help, only smoking again, or abstaining from cannabis for a few weeks will erase all these symptoms.

I find it odd that the hundreds of millions of people that have/do smoke cannabis worldwide in all of recorded human history have never talked about this..hmm... After reading the article, I was going to say what Mr. Socks posted about "the infamous whiteout"... I used to get this quite often when I'd simply take WAY too big a hit for me to handle..and if I had eaten in the previous couple hours or so, I'd vomit quite violently...I was the only one this happened to in highschool and college though...'cept for one of my late highschool girlfriends. Her and I seemed to be very VERY sensitive to the effects of cannabis...one hit off a joint and i'm blasted

wierd, cannabis is my cure-all stomach med, it always knocks any kind of nausea right out of the water, strange that it can also do the opposite.

This isn't really new- I remember hearing of that case before- the guy smoked 20 cones a day or some shit. Either way, I've recently quit an ounce/week habit, and no vomiting occurrreed either during or after.....

not really...sure, THC and I just presume, I don't know for sure, other cannabinoids quell nausia very effectively, but smoke does not...and if one takes in too much smoke from anything, one has a high chance of puking. Everyone has their limits imo...perhaps some lucky potheads limit is well beyond how much they can inhail! :)

exactly...f'ing moderation....for cannabis though, for a lot of people, moderation is obviously a pretty loose term...i'd use the line "not a fucking shit load like every 10 seconds daily, mkay stoners?" %)

I don't know about all this. Me and a dozen friends smoked stupid amounts of cannabis (2-4 grams a day) for years and none of us have experienced anything like this.

I think there are WAY too many factors to consider to come to a conclusion. 21 cases worldwide and a handful of BL'ers isn't that compelling to me. This is interesting but IMO it just seems like more anti pot propaganda until there is more evidence... Even then it's an issue of moderation and knowing your limits.

What the fuck are you talking about? HIV, SARS and H5N1 were and are still the subject of major research, including government funded research. Even from the very first days of these things appearing they got major press and shortly afterwards article after article appeared in major and minor journals. This is still ongoing. All of these continue to have researched published on them.

You should consider spending less time randomly bolding and instead read these journals you have obviously never looked at. Good God, each of these were major, major issues in the world media, just even just academic journals. If you haven't noticed, this is not the subject of a world wide media storm or even much academic research.

yeah, wtf

Most people who use any drug with excessive frequency probably aren't the healthiest people in many facets of life; I'm willing to bet that this 'syndrome' is caused by at least a combination of a few factors -- if it was due solely to cannabis, I think a lot more people would show symptoms due to the sheer numbers of regular cannabis users on this planet.

Ive smoked weed everyday since I have been about 16 years old.. I am now 25, for the past 6 years every 3 months I get sick, I throw-up for 3 - 12 days every 30 minutes and this happens EVERY 3 months, also alot of times when I eat a meal I have the urge to throw up and during all of this only one thing releaves me. A HOT SHOWER when I get sick for days the bathroom turns into a sauna, i keep turning the hot water tank higher and higher my mom doesnt realise how I can stay under the water it get scolding sometimes but my body has gotten used to it, why the hot shower helps is beyond me but it seems to be the only thing that works, so I can see how this is not total bs because after going to dr and sepcialist for 6 years and having almost every test from having a tube shoved down my throat to a cat scan hell i even say a pshycologist to see if it was all in my head but still no one has found an anwser... maybe this is finally it...

This sounds ridiculous. When I am taking meds that give me an upset stomach, I smoke over them, and I don't feel any nausea whatsoever. This must be some serious toking.

during times of heavy smoking, i feel nauseous every morning. can't get breakfast down. never actually thrown up though. shower helps during the shower. smoking when i wake up fixes it. really, smoking less overall cures it.

what

weed is the one thing that makes any stomach pain I have go away.

Well that's an acute effect -- I'm sure people suffering from this syndrome get acute relief by smoking cannabis. The problem arises when you use cannabis with regular frequency for long periods of time and disrupt the balance in your endocannabinoid system, that's when these paradoxical chronic effects manifest themselves.

I've found cannabis to be the single best anti-emetic on the planet, but when abused heavily there is definitely a rebound effect -- I feel nauseous and don't have much of an appetite from heavy cannabis use (this is from 8 years of smoking -- the last 3 years being every day). That's one of the reasons I'm currently cutting down.

Made some kind of pesticide or something else had been sprayed or added to the cannibis and maybe that's causing this nausea!? :\

I've seen sprays that are used to replicate the crystal effect that happens on White Widow and other strong marijuana, on the tins it says that they're not to be ingested. So people can use them to make their weed look good or strong, but the shits not meant to be smoked as it's toxic!

At the end of the day it could be anything, correlation it's causation! ;)
