In conjunction with 4:20....

There is a new movement going on that is going to break the ice on marijuana reform, there is no more sit back and get laughed at by presidential question and answer session, it is time for at least 1/25th or 1 Million of America's 25 Million pot smokers to start acting and show American Lawmakers that we do not stand to being laughed at for proposing the COMPLETE legalization if marijuana. The goal is to get a bill passed through US Congress and signed into law by President Barack Obama by December 31st, 2009 (The end of this year). This new law needs to have language that makes it legal for anyone possessing up to 10 marijuana Plants or 10 pounds of processed marijuana completely legal in The United States. I think most can agree this is a fair law that allows American citizens to grow 10 plants for themselves, three (3) crop cycles a year for personal use. This will allow non-criminal related marijuana Users to have easy access to their own marijuana or trade/buy from friends or acquaintances who are more experienced in growing marijuana. It is time to bring this issue to President Obama and Congress' backyard!

Here are the details of The Million marijuana March

Who: Everyone. Medicinal marijuana Patients, Recreational marijuana Smokers, Activists, Victims of DEA Raids, Victims of street crime from violent drug dealers due to prohibition creating this Black Market, Non marijuana Users who wish to allow the right to choose what people due with their bodies, Libertarians, Scientists, Students, Politicians.

Who is not invited: The DEA or police looking for easy busts or profiling of marijuana Activists and marijuana Users, The Office of Nationl Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), which is coincidentally right down the street.

What: What is the purpose? To raise awareness that The War on marijuana is absurd, costly, violent, oppressive and unconstitutional.

Where: The National Mall in Washington, DC. 7th Street N.W. Washington, DC

When: Monday April 20th, 2009 (4/20). 8AM - 8PM. People can stay an extra 4 hours and participate in a "midnight vigil" for the innocent victims who lost their lives from the War on marijuana.

Why: America needs reform on its marijuana policies. For far too long, marijuana has been grouped into the same categories as other drugs and it is time to separate these drug from marijuana. We are now renaming the "War on Drugs" when referring to marijuana solely, to "The War on marijuana". This helps make the demonizing campaign against marijuana ineffective because cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and other drugs cannot be used in "The War on marijuana". Until now, we were unable to see how silly the "War on marijuana" is because other drugs were grouped into marijuana's category. Now that a spade is a spade and it is "The War on marijuana", politicians can't spin the facts on marijuana's harmlessness to society and American's health.

How: Come by bus, plane, car or take the metro. There are plenty of places to stay in DC and as this Million marijuana March picks up, people will open their homes up for those wanting to attend the event in the DC Area.

Lets see 1 Million Americans at The National Mall on April 20th, 2009! Lets show lawmakers this is not something to be laughed at about, we are serious!

I'll be there again this year. If you're not from the area, you might not realize this, but stoners have been gathering at The Mall on 4/20 for years now. But its never, ever been organized, and there's never been this much interest.

I hope we get so many mother fuckers there in 09, we can climb up in old Abe Lincolns lap to spark a blunt.

BE THERE GODDAMNIT!

i wont be able to go.. was gonna try for the 4th but that was shot down? haha idk take some video i wanna see how it is! be sure to light your blunts and joints up

I will DEFINITELY be attending and all the way from NJ along with many respectable, intelligent people with many credentials & free "Running from the cure" DVDs to pass out.

that's alright..... if you can't go, just help spread the word about it. And if you can do that much, then you've done more than enough

and Frosty: what DVDs are you thinking of handin out?

The 10lbs is a little ridiculous. Way to get something shot down. Why not go for something with maybe a tiny, tiny chance of passing like a 1/4oz at any one time or 2 plants?

10lbs isn't personal use.

Edit: I'm considering going. I need to look into the logistics, but I may be able to go.

^^^everyone who will be at the march wants legalization. Period. Don't get bogged down in the details of it, just spread the word!

youtube comments, blog comments, chat rooms, message boards...... tell the people!

Marching to get a bill passed that doesn't have a tiny, tiny shot is silly, and something of a waste of money.

I wish there was better leadership in the legalization movement. NORML is fine, but I get the distinct impression that, at least on the local and regional level, they're too hippy, not enough scientist and way too little politician.

this isn't just about NORML and this isn't just a political rally. It's a show of force.

It's all about packing as many peaceful stoners as you can onto The Mall in DC while you smoke up and laugh at the Park Police because they're outnumbered and they can't do shit.

It's all about freaking out some doe-eyed, "god bless america" tourist types who just flew in from Nebraska last night and: oh my god honey what is that smell? It can't be .......dope?! We're in front of the Natural History Museum for pete's sake!

I like the idea greatly,

But I disagree with the whole smoke at the event,
I mean christ were trying to legalize it,
and your all going to to go to a rally and break the law?

Good job >.>

It is called civil disobedience. It did wonders for black Americans. And India.

I still do not get why only go part-way with this. Why only personal use? Why not let companies sell pre-measured packets of joints?

Although I do agree with legalization, I don't believe things like this actually help the cause much. Many people will just view it as a bunch of stoners getting together to get blazed.

There needs to be a coordinated political movement that makes strides in public relations, public information, and political representation. I just don't see how this does any of that.

^^^Enlitx, it might not help the cause but I don't think its gonna hurt the cause either. Unless there's riots or something, and you know thats not going to happen.

public relations? It's still against the law! You'd have to be crazy to put yourself out there as a spokesmen for marijuana! You might as well say goodbye to future career opprutunities. Adios to the respect of family and friends. And do you think that guys like Marc Emery don't get harrassed? That guy gets shit from the DEA, and the FBI, and he's not even a US citizen!

like I said, this goes down every year, the only difference is, this year, they'll be alot more people. It beats the hell out of sitting on the couch and doing nothing, doesnt it? You're going to meet alot of cool people at an event like this anyways, so fuck the long term implications.
