DXM: Psychedelics Lite?

Hi PD- I am pretty new to psyches:

Taken 2 low doses of L - fun+interesting, not mind blowing
1 medium dose - i panicked and kinda held myself in the whole time (bad setting)
6-7 molly experiences - great personal growth tool!
4ish salvia experiences (no crazy journeys, just fascinating mind trip)

So, that said, I think I want to try shrooms. I guess I have a general intention of getting to know myself better, and all that good stuff.

However, my state of mind has been pretty fragile lately, self-esteem pretty low, and kind of stuck in my head, so I'm naturally a little scared shrooms will "kick my ass" if I go into it in a poor headspace.

I mean, part of me wants to take shrooms BECAUSE I'm in a bad headspace, and I want to see why I'm unhappy and fix it... but I understand that could be a little unwise.

I've also heard about DXM being a fun, even possibly therapeutic experience. Being that I have yet to have a classical psychedelic experience, is a DXM trip kind of like a mentally safer way of testing the psychedelic waters? What are your experiences/thoughts about this?

i personally think dxm sucks, some people loveit though, so hard to say what you will think. i have had low points in my life where shrooms help lift my mood and show me how wrapped up i was in petty stuff. but ive also had times when i was feeling great and shrooms "kicked my ass" as you put it. i say start low and see how it goes. however, if your really feeling shitty about life (like why bother getting up in the morning low) i wouldnt recommend any psychedelics. anyway, imo dxm doesnt near compare to shrooms if your looking for a soul searching journey. (im sure many people will disagree with me though.)

Dxm is not like lsd or salvia at all. Its a dissociative like ketamine or pcp or nitrous.

It isnt to be underestimated, it can be extremely intense in higher doses. If youre in a bad headspace I would advise you to stay clear of any psychedelics until youre feeling a little more positive.

But if you really want to try dxm, start with 100mg or so to make sure you dont have an enzyme deficiency. If 100mg is really intense, stay away.

If you feel fine on 100mg, try a 500mg dose the next time.

im not 100% sure ,(well not even 50) but i think its to do with having a deficiency of a certain enzyme that metabolizes DXM into something else???
thus drasticlly increasing potency but realy i dunno, thats just from the top of my head ,,google it
peace

also try hawian baby woodrose seeds or san pedro they can be pretty heavy but only on realy big doses so at a normal amounts there pretty giving regardless of mind set or setting

Yeahhh... I really want to try mescaline-containing cacti... but ughh, it takes work! I tried doing San Pedro once, and it failed before I even got to consume anything. (Freeze AFTER peeling, not BEFORE!)

Oh, and I forgot to say I tried HBW too... I had one trip that was excellent until the very end, where my ego took control of it and tried directing the trip in places it was not meant to go. Overall it was a learning experience, though.

Right now DXM is the most accessible/ easiest to prepare. Maybe when I have more time on my hands I'll try some San Pedro Soup...

Given your current mental state (I'm also in a similar state) I'd advise to try phenethylamines. They seem to be more uplifting and directed towards a positive experience. MDMA is great for an uplifting experience but it can only go so far. Try the light members of the 2C-x and 2C-T-x family. (if accesibility allows of course.. :( )

BTW San Pedro and Peruvian Torch would be right up your alley, beautiful, uplifting benevolent experience. Mescaline is a great phenethylamine. Peruvian Torch is my favorite botanical and in my top 5 favorite psychedelics. :)

DXM is absolutely not "lite", in any way. Nor is it "light". It is pure darkness and you'd best stay well away until you have a better idea of what you're getting yourself into.

rolodex propaganda: the idea of a cigarette "dipped" in DXM is absurd. DXM cannot be smoked. PCP yes, DXM no.

Thank you! What are some other phenethylamines? The thing is, I'm a college student, and It'd be kinda weird being in the dorm kitchen all day with unfamiliar green materials and smells, attracting unwanted attention... to prepare the cacti.

I've also heard that DXM is also "uplifting" and has a really pleasant afterglow/antidepressant/motivational effects, so that's still lookin' pretty good.

Rolodex: Go to the DXM megathread... I'd like to stay on topic.

^ DXM is indeed uplifting, motivating, and has a glorious afterglow, but you have to understand that it's very serious at the same time. This is not LSD-like sunshine and daylight positivity, rather it is alien, shadowy, and twisted. You have to approach it a certain way, or you will be rebuked. This is why most people hate it.

Don't get me wrong, you sound like you have a good head on your shoulders and you're going about things intelligently. I just want to make it very clear that just because DXM seems somewhat "easy" to use (and it is, oddly enough), it is not a "beginner" substance. It can be deeply healing, but only if you truly give it all your love and respect.

Good luck with your explorations :)

DXM is good fun in a manicly twisted way. The lower plateaus are kinda like being on speed and GBL at the same time, in the headspace at least. The higher ones are utter mindfuck with giggles.

Huh... interesting. I want to know why you guys have the views that you have about DXM. Manically twisted?? Alien and shadowy? Sez who? You felt dark energies?

Why? Because unlike most, I have taken the time and effort to cultivate a shamanic relationship with DXM, instead of merely treating it as a drug used for personal pleasure.

DXM, like ketamine, is a crystallization of Thanatos energy. Thanatos refers to Death, Darkness, the Underworld, etc. This is just how it is. It's not scary, or evil. Exquisitely beautiful, in fact. There is no light without darkness.

Think of it this way: Being alone in the woods at night is frightening if you live in the daytime world. But if you are a nocturnal creature, you are quite at home. It's the same with DXM - it can take you to the shadow world, but you have been transformed into an inhuman shadow-being yourself, so it's all quite comfortable.

I don't know why more people don't articulate these aspects of dissociatives. It's very clear to me. But then I've always been a purist, taking care to use entheogens in the most respectful, patient, focused manner possible. No doubt this is why I am apparently permitted to travel places that others are denied.

Some people who have used DXM may have no idea what Darkness I'm referring to, but then they're probably the ones who chug a bottle of Robotussin and then play video games. You think Dexter is going to grace them with its power and glory? Fuck no!

Terence McKenna had some great advice for working with Minded entheogens, such as the plant teachers, and things like DXM. Ask it to "show me what you are for yourself." This is a very powerful exercise. Try it sometime, you might get a response.

Personally, If you havent tried DXM it is worth trying a couple times but head my warning... it can become very addictive in some people (not only expensive also) I went through like a 2 year binge with DXM and it let me no-where. Im still living at home with my parents with no job and DXM is all to blame for it. I would be so out of it the next day that i couldnt focus at work or anything. stick with pot or pills its more fun and benifits u in the log run. I did love my DXM experience though it did open my eyes to alot of things... alot of things I didnt wanna know.

You know what? I am on it now for the first time. I don't think I get it yet really. I'm just kinda lightheaded and confused. Really confused. But that's it. And I slept the first hour after taking it. LOL. Idk what the hell is going on.

Very fascinating, Propyl Power! So do you think there's a possibility of an underworld journey on DXM, then?

I'm curious what energies you've detected from other drugs. Psilocybin? LSD? Salvia?
