Recently myself and 4 mates went on a truely amazing camping trip. It started at 10pm friday night, i knocked off work, we all piled in the car flogged it down the highway, arriving at our destination about 1:30am. We then proceeded to be rowdy and inconsiderate campers, before crashing to bed around 3:30am.

The next day we awoke and did some climbing on boulders around the campsite, then we loaded up our packs with a few essentials, beer, water, matts, bong, acid, and headed off to hike the pyramid. The pyramid is basically a mountain, with a monolithic dome of rock on top. At the base of the steep ascent we all had our first tab, it was about 1:45pm, we reached the top about 2pm and chilled out for a while. We mucked around on some of the boulders up there, and had our 2nd tab at around 2:30pm. By now I i could feel the first one kicking in, tingles shot up and down my body, and climbing became rather difficult as I would often start giggling uncontrollably.
The jaw dropping 360 degree view of the surrounding mountains was starting to look pretty amazing, strange repeated colours were flashing all around, and i could feel all the land breathing in and out.

Around 3:30pm we decided it was time to do a little exploring, and wandered around until we found this wicked little cave, out of the wind and sun we chilled and drank a beery. From here on in the trip got rather intense, my sense of time was massively skewed, so all times are educated guesses. We sat in the cave for ages, not talking about anything in particular, the only thing I really remember is all 5 of us breaking down into fits of laughter, tears rolling out of our eyes. None of us could remember what we were laughing at, but every few minutes someone would giggle, and the chain reaction would start again. We eventually decided to head back round because it felt like we had been in the cave for hours, I think it was actually about half an hour.

My previous experience with acid was a rather mild one (one average tab), and i experienced more of a shift in perception than an actual trip, everything was just slightly...bent. Not nearly as good as some of my mushy trips (if you remember my tripping in a mansion report =D). But this time my world wasn't just bent, it was severly and inescapably DISTORTED!

Geometric patterns were free flowing over all the granite, the hard rock felt weird under my feet, and the landscape around me was unrecognisable. For kilometers around the land was warping and flowing like water, patterns were dancing over the tree tops and i was just sitting there in total awe.

It was then that we got a rude shock, a group of tourists hiking up the side of the rock, we quickly stashed the bong, and sat there giggling and watched them. They must've thought we were the a bunch of beatnick gypsies, scraggly clothes, barefoot, our stuff strewn absolutely everywhere. Thankfully they left quickly though, i'm not sure if we scared them off or they just came up for a look and then left.

Some of my friends decided they were guna push themselves a bit, and did some rather scary free climbing (5-6m unroped) and even scarier rock jumps. The look on their faces said it all, it was phenominal just to watch.

The sun had started to get lower in the sky so i guess it must've been about 5pm-ish when we decided we were guna grab our matts and the billie, and make a push for the highest point to watch the sunset. We set up our seat, and had "Warks on top" as we waited patiently. Words cannot describe how mind blowing the next 30mins were, but i'll do my best.

Golden beams of light were shooting out, giving the crazy illusion that the universe was incredibly conical. Like the sun was sucking the earth down this cone of light, and to make it even weirder, there was a whistling wind all around us which was reverberating in my head. At different points we all had to stand up to make sure we werent actually being sucked in. The clouds were a vibrant purple, and the landscape was doing its usual thing, patterns everywhere, colourful and now changing totally at random. We all had sunnys on, and sorta knew it wasnt good to stare at the sun, but it was impossible not to look at, it was like we were watching the apocolypse. Our hole world was firey orange and the wind was getting more and more intense as the sun was slowly eclipsed by the the mountain range. It was building and building, we looked at eachother, mouths quite literally agape. And then with a final hiss the last slither of golden light disappeared.

At had been suggested earlier that we should get off this bloody great rock before it got dark. But all reason took 2nd place to the jaw dropping sunset. It was going to be a full moon, so somehow we got the idea that the night was going to be so clear and bright that we could just find our way back like it was daylight. It was even suggested that we camp on top!

We finally got our shit together, and were ready to go about 6:30pm, but soon realised that it was completely dark. Descending the rock seemed almost surreal, it was deathly steep, I shuddered thinking about what would happen if i slipped. But for some reason, it was not at all frightening, we all just glided down, we looked at eachother utterly puzzled, "Are we or are we not walking casually down a fuck off steep rock, while totally exhausted, and still tripping bawls?" Luckily there was a path of white dots to follow, these dots were probably our saving grace, no one had any idea which way our camp was, but these faithful little dots of paint guided us down the mountain. We arrived at what we thought was a path, and it sorta dawned on us how stupid our little adventure was, we were stuck in the bush, no food, no water, no warm clothes, and no idea where our camp was. Take it from me, walking through scary bush at night while tripping is about as low as you can go on the acid fun scale. I was freaking out every minute or so, at points I could've swarn i saw glimpses of strange looking people on the side of the path. And all the while i was trying to convince myself we were safe from obvious dangers... like mountain lions.

I cannot explain the wave of relief that hit me as we got back to the carpark, i felt like we had just cheated death. We piled in the car and my friend slowly edged out of the carpark, we were all totally on edge, cruising at 10kph was like flying, I also noticed that this song was playing, the strange siren was so appropriate. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jzil8S7tUeY

We made the 200m drive safely, dived into our little camp site, got some beers, 2min noodles, hookah pipe and The Doors and relived our epic journey. This was easily one of the best days of my life, and definately the craziest trip i've ever had. Everyone should, nay must, experience something like this.

Edit: Pics wont work, which is a shame cause there pretty cool

Hope you enjoyed the read.

Were there supposed to be pics here? Anyway, amazing report!
Hopefully next time you'll plan the non-psychedelic part of the trip more carefully ;).

nice report!! I am kind of jealous :), i'v always wanted to climb a mountain with a 360 degree view of the surroundings and just observe with my altered state. Glad you got to experience that!!

climbing down the mountain in the dark actually sounds like a fun adventure, although obviously quite dangerous.

That's intriguing you came to the same conclusion as me, that the universe is conical. I had a similar trip (more mental though) that i zoomed out from our 'point of existence' and saw the universe as a cone shape.

The most interesting part of this is in Special Relativity (Physical Theory of Measurement) it suggests that the universe is cone shaped, and we are effectively at the point as the 'observer'

;)

malakaix,

the universe is most def not cone shaped (well, lets hope so), just that is what we can observe, there is a horizon defined by the speed of light c. But on topic.

But whicked trip dude.

Yeah, i should of said by what was observable via the evolution of a flash of light. My apologies im coming to too many conclusions lately without properly defining them :)

that song you mentioned in this post has started me on an entire mission of psychedelic music 8o

i thought i read this on erowid already though?...

Etienne De Crecy is a dead set legend, hes got awesome chilled techno beats, but playing live he cranked out probably the greatest live set i've ever heard (not to mention his cube... its un-freakin-believable)

Pretty sure its not on erowid, unless one of my other buddies wrote up a secret trip report and posted it, which is possible. Link?
