Aussie Music. Awesome Local Bands yet to own a jet

JoFace, I'm definitely in agreeance. I love US and Aussie hip-hop and I also like to look at them both with an understanding of two very different beasts.

Cheers for this thread guys, have to admit I've hardly heard of any of the bands mentioned..will have to check some out. (I like Architecture in Helsinki and their live show was great and full of cute girls :D)

I've seen Scribe and Deceptikonz twice now, they are awesome. When I was just getting back into hip hop was about the time of "The Crusader" fame (Scribe's first album). It still has tonnes of listenability for me :)

And yeah, I have P-Moneys first album too. He has done soo much for NZ hip hop. He is cool :D
 
Kat Frankie,

I've seen her play live twice and I love her so. She has such a powerful voice and strums the guitar like no ones business. I'm shocked she's not more popular.

^ Parkway Drive are from Byron. I'm friends of friends with all of them, plus went to school with one of them. You're from California? omg, I am definitely passing on that news to my drummer mate. They aren't really that famous here yet, Heavy Metal is a bit passe at the moment.

Yeah I know!!! I'm missing a show on april 4 or so I believe because I'm gonna be in the wrong part of Cali. They don't have a huge fan base here, but I make every metal head I know listen to em and within seconds they're in love.

BTW I'm already they're friend on myspace... but would much rather be in your position and know em personally! You should get me an autograph!

I have to admit I had no idea parkway drive were aussie. Oops!
But I must mention Eskimo Joe! They're big and they've been around forever but damn they're good! Their new stuff is catchy but I prefer the older albums.
Xavier Rudd deserves a mention too.
Anyone seen Dallas Frasca and Her Gentleman? Awesome voice and amazing act.
 
I really love old Katie Noonan and George....their old stuff is better than their new stuff. Perfect time to reference Regurgitator as I also prefer their old stuff etc etc.
 
While we're reminiscing, Frenzal Rhomb rocked my world when I was younger (still do in fact).
Classic Aussie I don't give a shit bogan as hell punk rock.
Makes me proud.

Some of George's music makes my soul melt too.
 
Oh and also tinderbox is a great prog/alt rock band.

I've seen them play and really enjoyed their music. It's wild progressive and experimental stuff that takes you on a journey + i <3 the bassist.

Seeing Frenzal in 2 weeks for what may be the 4000th time plus Nancy Vandal (also Aussie punk legends). Fucking stoked!

And Aussie punk can't be mentioned without dropping the Hard Ons. 22+ years rocking and still gigging when not busy with day jobs.

I always loathed George. That shit breaks my ears.
