Is there any chance that an SSRI (citalopram) could potentiate 4-MMC (mephedrone)?

The reason i ask is because i have a friend currently on citalopram who seems to need alot less mephedrone to get to the same levels as everyone else.

Thoughts?

Not likely. I'd be worried about combining it with an SSRI, though. If mephedrone is much of a serotonin releaser, serotonin syndrome is a concern.

I see now the moronically named "methedrone" - para-methoxy-N-methylcathinone - is being marketed. Neither PMA or PMMA are things I'd willingly ingest, and PMMA- maybe not as dangerous as PMA- does not appear to be recreational per Shulgin's entry.

I would also have almost thought the opposite, though it is quite different than MDMA, as I understand, SSRIs pretty much dull MDMA to nothing, am I right? But knowing that your friend is getting effects, that's kind of good news for my friend who is also on Citalopram, as he wanted to try it but I said I dunno as it could be a waste, I'll be sure to dose him low to start though.

Yes SSRI dull MDMA effects quite effective, even 400mg or so couldn't be felt much.

Right, but this is primarily a DARI AFAIK.

on what evidence you know this as fact?

it definitely has a stronger serotonin component than dopamine or at leat it feels that way as i find it can be very sedating and mongy and other drugs i have done where dopamine and serotonin were similar(cocaine) the urge to move and awake nervous energy was very far from the 4mmc mong and mellow apathy

just experience based anecdotal opinion on my part

just experience based anecdotal opinion on my part

exactly, and that's why this is worthless.

SAR data would suggest a primarily dopaminergic / NA nature.

well it feels from experience like it has a strong serotonin component that lasts way after the rush and alleviates the comedown like with mdma, and might be why people are having it as a substitue for mdma and why it exhibits similar monged lazy chilled out behaviours.

experience is never worthless, its often where actual observations about the real effects on a human occur and as such is important to knowing and understanding a chemical

so everything shulgin had to say on his experiences are worthless and same for hofmann?

thats a very ignorant attitude to choose

does this SAR data result from tests on mephedrone or is a guess based upon similar molecules behaviour???

i can only assume (though that in itself is a load of shit) that the lack of response suggests that no tests have been done on mephedrone itself (something i knew anyway). otherwise it would have been graded by the law pronto
