Today is my first day of sobriety from Marijuana in over 2 years of smoking.

Im talking 3 blunts a day. Morning, afternoon and evening.

My memory and vocab have hit ground zero. Mt cognative skills seem okay but my coordination is whack.

I'm not blaming the weed. I love and and more than likely will go back to it, I just need at least a 2 month break to see if it helps.

So do I just go cold turkey or are there easier methods?

Perhaps by drinking more? Well actually that's probably worse...

Don't "replace" marijuana for alcohol, ain't a good trade! just find another thing to do at the times you used to smoke . and Try to avoid smoke partners...
it won't be easy, but perfectly possible...

cold turkey isn't bad at all. i wouldn't recommend replacing w/ alcohol (plus drinking tends to weaken will-power anyway).

boredom and sleeplessness are really the only two withdrawal symptoms, so have stuff to do that will keep you occupied and tire you out (exercise, books, etc.).

exercise is always the most beneficial since it physically fatigues you, to make up for the lack of melatonin you're going to experience without weed. it also burns fat and moves more thc metabolites out of you :) since you're a blunt smoker, you might find yourself tempted to cigs if you're not smoking weed... that's pretty much how i got to smoking cigs myself. in that case, just get some more weed :|

Really? Do you think maybe I should just avoid blunts because of tobacco?

That actually does make a lot of sense...maybe if I just stick to a bowl in the evening or something

Yeah working out always helps me through a two or three month hiatus (random U.A.'s).

I would have to say quitting cold turkey is probably the best method seeing as most people fail to cutback smoking habits as originally planned.

You will probably also have to do some social restructuring. I have found it impossible to quit when I am hanging out with a bunch of pot heads. I've never been smoked out so much for free as when I said "I'm quitting for a while".

^ Exactly.

The moment you say, "Man, I'm going to quit smoking bud.", your like-minded Cannabis consuming friends will most likely do their best to smoke you out.

It usually feels like you're losing a member of your family when someone leaves your smoking circle.

Then again, it also feels pretty awesome to leave the smoking circle for a break and get things done.

It's all about balance.

Royksopp, I used to be in a similar position, although I hadn't smoked as heavily for as long. But, I definitely didn't like the way it was starting to change me.

But, I also knew I didn't want or need to quit altogether. I realized that it wasn't necessarily how often I was smoking, but how much. If you're burning down three to four blunts a day, I suspect the same may be true of you.

Take a break for a week or two if you can. When you start smoking again, don't roll a blunt. Go get a pipe or a bong or something, where it's easier to control your intake. Try taking just one hit, and chill out for a while. In a half hour or so, take another. You'll feel high the whole time, and it will get progressively stronger as you periodically take a hit. Wait until you're totally sober before sparking another bowl. I think you'll find it's still possible to get high while smoking much less green if you just stew in it for a while - as opposed to ripping through a bowl all at once and 20 minutes later going for another once the peak wears off.

Smoking less weed per session goes a long way in reducing the burnout effect. You'll have more energy.

I went without weed for three months.....It was easy as pie. Just don't buy weed or smoke. I was hanging out with my friends who smoked and I was fine. Just occupy your self with something else.....read, do sports, est.

Yeah I know. Cold Turkey is about the only way I think I can do this. UGH

Cold turkey is the only way that I have ever been able to quit smoking cigarettes, and we all know how much of a bitch quitting cigarettes can be. I am on my third whole day of not smoking any cigarettes. This is the farthest that i have gotten in 8 months of smoking since I picked it up again. This time, I decided to quit for another reason apart for myself: I quit for my mother because it makes her so sad that I went back to smoking cigarettes after being a non-smoker for 4 years after quitting successfully in the first place.

Maybe you can find another reason to quit for? I don't know. The one thing that I do know is that, if you are going to quit anything you are only going to do it when you are seriously ready and you want to do it. If at first you do not succeed, keep trying! Don't give up! If you can't do it now that doesn't mean that you don't have it in you.

If you can stop toking for a while and then just go back to once a month you'll be golden; you'll always get a great high out of every smoke, you'll save money, and you will probably figure out how to fill all of the other time with new hobbies, exercise, and so on.

Good luck!

Take 5-htp ( a vitamin) it will make sleeping back to normal and might help with out symptoms.

man im in the same position as you.. you just gotta find something else to replace your time wth, the main reason you'll go back to it is cause you'll be bored. buy into a club or something idk, but find something to occupy yourself

Avoid the activities you used to do while high. Try and avoid things that remind you of being high. This is going to be hard, since you probably smoked in your apartment or something, so just get outside and yeah- join a fitness club. Exercise feels good. Start wheightlifting, you'll feel even better about yourself, then you'll become addicted, then you'll become ripped....lol, that's really how it kind of works- Just get educated on what really works and what doesn't. bodybuilding.com is a decent place to start but their articles conflict a lot, because they're written by anyone with the slightest bit of credibility to their name.

You should absolutely avoid blunts, whether you intend to quit or not, as tobacco is disgusting.
I've had to take breaks several times over my 5+ years using cannabis. Sometimes breaks up to 6 months at a time. The 1st week or so is the most difficult IMO. I always quit cold turkey btw.
