While sleeping last night, I pulled a muscle real bad in my neck. I went to the drug store store to find a topical pain reliever. I looked at the active ingredients, and one of them was Histamine dihydrochloride. Now, I'm wondering, would it be safe to use this while taking Nardil (Phenelzine)? I know Histamine is also a neurotransmitter, so I didn't know if there would be any interactions.

Thanks!

Actually i take that back.. According to Wiki histamine IS a monoamine. This is the first time i've heard this though. So it may have some interactions, and I would consult a doctor before doing anything.

Nah, histamine isn't a monoamine, so MAOI's don't have any interactions with it.

pfffft! wrong wrong! wrong! - MAOIs are known to prolong and intensify the anticholinergic and CNS depressive effects of sedating antihistamines. And doxy is a potent anticholinergic agent!

^ lol...But histamine isn't any one of those... It's actually the opposite of anti-histamines, because it IS histamine.
