You cant know that. A lot of people who snitch have their identities protected(see 'witness protection program'), and if by snitching you put a dealer in jail or prison for any significant amount of time how is he going to retaliate anyway? Assuming he dosen't have gang connections and even if he did there's also the possibility he's a low ranking member. Gangs are scum and only look out for one another when it's convenient. If a simple "solider" or low level guy was put away they wouldn't likely give a shit. Hell, many gang members are able to sell even more drugs when they're put in prison, you might be doing him a favorRoger said:

^Ok, I admit I shouldn't have talked in such absolute terms. But honestly, when dealing with life-or-death situations its always better to be on the safe side. I guess your safety really depends on who you're snitching on (but I'm assuming its someone *worth*snitching on, as in someone at a relatively high level, or else the cops wouldn't really care), and whether or not he has dedicated people to take care of business. People don't take kindly to having their buddies locked up, their stash house busted, their cash flow cut off, etc. Its this kinda stuff that makes me glad I don't do hard drugs anymore; such a fucked up way to live.

Well read all my posts man, I never said I was gonna snitch on Tony Montana, in fact I said there is no way I would do something like that. Low-level, suburban pot dealers are who I'm dealing with. I'd be willing to go a bit higher than that, but I don't know anything higher than a low-level suburban K/Coke dealer, so that's where it would end.
Fair possibility of his friends kicking my ass (with subsequent charges for all of them, they're pussies who wouldn't touch me anyways), tiny possibility of death > Jail, criminal record, family shame and more, fewer job prospects, kicked out of school, all sorts of bad shit not just jail, including being someones bitch in jail and getting ass-raped? I just don't talk to police because nothing good ever comes of it. That was instilled in me at a very young age as noone trusts the police around here and rats are looked down upon even by people that have nothing to do with drugs or crime. If you rat more then likely the cops will just use you to get the dealer and still send you off to prison anyway.
The pigs are just their to use you and they are most certainly not your friend. Not only will you end up in prison but you will be branded a rat as well so that means you will spend most of your time in PC. If you can get a written agreement with police you should have nothing to worry about. I'll be honest, I dont know the specifics, but I would assume this is a legal document or a contract between 2 parties and cannot be breached. If they did you have just cause to file suit.p_a said:

They do cut deals in court through your lawyer or whatever but they can always come back and nail you on some other charge. Many people get scared when they get arrested and the cops start telling them the charges and of course they always say what the maximum penality will be. Then they end up talking to the police with no lawyer and disaster naturally follows.
I was up on some bullshit charges once and i absolutly refused to say anything to the police except that i understood the charges and that no i was not making a statement and wanted legal council instead. The whole mes had nothing to do with drugs but where very serious charges non the less and worse then drug related offenses. Especially the assault with a weapon thing 8).
My stupid dumb ass legal aid lawyer who i got before i got my real lawyer said that i could be looking at 15 years even though i knew at worst i would do 2 years or less.
I am just biased because i hate police as a rule and i would rather go to prison (as much as the thought of having my freedom taken away and staring at 4 walls all day terrify me) then be branded a rat.

This happens, you're right, but it stems from people not knowing or excersizing their rights, which is just stupid on thier part. If someone dosen't know their rights to begin with they should not be doing something where if caught, they would need to excersize these rights, like attempting to buy/sell drugs.p_a said:

Oh, I'm sure there have been deaths in Canada as a result of bad Cannabis deals and what not, but it is no where NEAR the deaths caused by Cocaine and Heroin, which are in the 1000s. Also, for a lot of my weed buying career, I actually knew who the grower was (indirectly...brother in law of my best friend, never knew the man, but knew he was a good fella). But yes, I'm sure there is a slight chance 1 or 2 murders, maybe not, but at least assaults/beatings did happen over some weed I bought at some point, but still, its not like I know for a fact, whereas if you've gone through a fair share of cocaine, you KNOW someone died at some point over a bundle that contained that cocaine. It is an utter fact that THOUSANDS die each year in the coke trade.

1. He did NOT get caught because he broke the law, he got caught because he got caught.
2. The dealer would actually be doing the time he deserves. Drug users don't deserve ANY time in jail, whereas dealers do.

Irrelevant song, it is about narcs and not so much a drug user who had gotten in trouble and snitched. Well, the first verse and chorus, anyways, that rapper is so bad I decided to stop listening after 1 minute. Try some Biggie or Tupac, hell if you need that low voice Tech N9ne is pretty bomb sometimes. I don't exactly like taking advice from rappers or gangsters...They're what is WRONG with society (gangsters, not so much rappers, though many began that way), and apparently so are enough people here, allowing violent people to walk free.
Hey claire, did you snitch on that dealer who went and killed that guy, throwing him down 50 stories, or was he at least caught on his own? It isn't as simple as you would like to believe. The cops know who did it mate, of course they do or I sure wouldn't be mentioning that here considering I'd have to be involved with that social group to be aware of the circumstances. But; no charges have been laid. Nobody is going to name names, unless they wanna end up shot up in their bed. I'm not even 100% on the exact person who may have done it. Names aren't thrown around where I'm from 'cos the consequences are real and serious. I only have circumstantial evidence, I wasn't a witness, no confession, so my word means nothing, and I ain't about to ask them (and if I did, I'd get searched for wires)
It seems like you know nothing about this world to be honest. It's not as simple as running to the pigs. That will get you nowhere except the cemetery.

Eventually I got called down, they said my name had come up several times, and they already knew I'd been selling because they'd busted kids who'd bought from me and they squealed.
