Matt Valentine & Erica Elder
also known as MV + EE

wiki said:
MV & EE is a group of musicians focused around Matt "MV" Valentine and his partner Erika "EE" Elder. While the duo recorded under many different names, including MV & EE Medicine Show and The Bummer Road, most of the records center around both artists and feature a rotating cast of additional musicians.

Their style is self-described as "lunar ragas", with many of the lyrics dealing with celestial imagery. They combine Indian raga style composition with Appalachian folk and post-psychedelic electrical experimentalism. They use Western and Eastern acoustic instruments amplified and augmented with effects such as reverb, delay, and flange. Their compositions occasionally feature vocals, which are off-kilter and rambling.

since the late 90's the duo has been releasing extremely
limited (99 copies) cdrs of home recordings that are hand crafted
& bound with beautiful hand painted imagery along with strange inserts,
stencils, and the like, all on their own record labels:
Child of Microtones and Heroine Celestial Agriculture.

this makes actually being able to listen to their music quite hard,
you should be ever so lucky to even be able to hear most of these
rare recordings.. but hunting down these treasures on ebay & so-forth is
defiantly worth it.

it all really depends if you're looking for deep psych blues, jangly
reverb soaked acoustic goodness, eastern inspired outter space
raga celebrations, or so on and so forth, MV + EE really cover it all.
but some of my personal favorites include:
We Offer You Guru
Deep Space Circuit
Ragantula
Glorious Group Theropy
The Uranium Ray
Tonight! One Night Only! MV + EE In Heaven

for those of you who find it hard to sit & listen to their concoction
of loud raga droning instrumentals could probably find comfort
in some of their more accessible recordings:
Green Blues, Gettin' Gone, & most of the other Bummer Road records..
that mainly focus along the lines of bottle-neck slidin country blues goodness,
but of course theres always a touch of weirdness that is expected from MV + EE.

Cursillistas
Thee Seven Storey Mountain

Layers & layers of rolling acoustic licks, whistling, groups of
clapping layered upon more groups of clapping, discernible lyrics
that only really relate to chanting, wooing, and humming.
Some songs feature loud droning distorted guitar that
contrast greatly to the lighter tones on the record, pretty heavy stuff.
Percussion consists of random tinkering, triangles, bells, flopping
glass dishes & cups, stomping, and strange polyrhythmic bass drums.
Great meditative tones, or music to let loose in the background while
you roam about your house after you rise from sleep.

stand out tracks: 'Saudade' & 'New Seeds'

I've been listening to the new MV + EE with the Golden Road lately, it's awesome.

ah yea, Drone Trailer? i'm liking it also,
and the groups gonna be making a stop by my city at the end of this month..
so hopefully i'll be able to hear most of those tracks live, i can't wait

have you heard their record that came out at the beginning of this year? 'Meet Snake Pass & Other Human Conditions'
really good acoustic blues stuff that takes em back to their early sound, it's a live recording from late last year i believe.. incredible clear sound
it's just Matt on guitar and Erica on a dulcimer hooked up to a wah-wah (i think?)
either way, it's really good.. i'm waitin on the vinyl version to make it to my house anyday now

Aha, I love drone music, though of the heavier variety....Excellent bands of this genre with a metal-drenched touch are Sunn0))), Khanate, Earth, some Boris stuff.....I also like the drones of Lustmord and Inade, thugh that stuff is very spooky and dark.
