really? because tuesday nights at the mel started out as being predominately house. it all depends on the crowd. you do know that the melody inn hosts events of different music besides d&b and punk, right?

not trying to troll, but the Mel is definitely not a place for some progressive house.

well, we'll see how it goes. Only 2 our of the 5 are really doing house orientated stuff, and even that's fairly loose. If that idea should bomb, the night's theme is intended to be in flux, so we could focus better on what works and not re-tread what doesn't work. Frankly I'd be content doing breaks and hip hop on a regular basis, but we want to try other things too.

As for your question on the other thread, we had Lokiko and Hoosier D doing D&B at the last Paradox show because they were the ones we could get on short notice. Lokiko is very talented, but focuses mostly in Darkstep style jungle, so it's very possible that a more light-style would work. D's was a mixed bag, to say the most. we've had issues and frankly i dont know if he's gonna get booked with us anytime soon, but we'll see. The problem was that people coming in to the bar would take one listen, and then turn around and leave. So I'm game to do D&B, but we need to try something different than what we've had so far for the time being. If you want to bring something to the table, by all means let us know! We want other DJ's to come in with us on this and do guest shots.

Yes I do, but admittedly, I've never been to one. Regardless, I can't imagine some progressive or vocal house going over too well.

I had a feeling you guys used Hoosier D. I've had issues with him as well, so I guess good riddance. I'll have to make it out to one of these.

great mix! We'll definately keep ya on our short list. As said before, we have open weeks coming should things keep going, so we'll need guest DJ's!

like i said, it depends on the crowd that you bring in. the same people don't hang out at the mel every night, short of right when they open. ;)

No doubt, but when I think progressive house, I think of a club environment, not a dive bar like the mel.

edit: it should be noted that I love house music.

most of my set will probably be funky breaks, maybe a little funky house, but im much more for breaks right now,i loop alot too so im still not exactly sure on my set yet..there will be house but,ill be trying to mix it up as will jin~xs considering our eclectic taste in music theres no reason not to.

i really dont see alot of breakbeat djs around anymore,i guess im just not looking in the right places, but i wish we had more of em.

actually, the living room, the mel, and the cat are my three fav dive bars in indy.

but i admittedly always thought it was pretty funny they let some ravers run a night there for a hot min.

anyone that went there during our that time knows what we mean..it was like ..country angry drunkerdness..he really did not like that music.

i went to your night, and i never knew who techno bob was.

was techno bob the old drunk guy that works on commercial refrigerators?

why yes, yes he was!
he fixed all the lr stuff,he was okay when he sober but when he drank,he would rant for hours about the"boom boom boom" while we spun, and scream things like "play sinatra". ..he was half amusing/half intimidating cause i didnt know the guy well enough to know whether he was just going to flip out at us one day and go texes ranger or somthin.

spinning at the lr maybe wasnt the best ideah, but that was our bar at the time,at least before they changed it..spose you had to start somewhere..
& i like Sinatra, but i can imagine mixing it..
