Esoteric Angels and psychedelia

Hello,

I have been pondering about angels for some time now.
In the broadest sense really.
It is actually a really personal thing for me too for the last few years and probably also beyond in some way, be it for the fact that i grew up in a mostly christian society.
Therefore depictions of angels or angelic creatures have been around me since i went by a church for the first time.
I do know some things that are written about angels but I also have some kind of personal relationship with the topic, as i find the term very fitting for what i have been witnessing now and then.

There is a problem for me in the christian depictions of them, well not really a problem it is all fine if one can spin it into the proper context for whatever.
It is more like i feel like many things about them are probably misunderstood or at least left out even if the writings were honest etc.
There is a whole spectrum of subtlety about them which is kind of left out for me.
It is often more like: He appeared with a flaming sword, or it saved the world by helping give birth to this one child.
I think they get kind of mystified, they are very much real to me, moreso than or at least as much as in christian mythology, although i am not practicing any christianity, i just read about it now and then and take it as another bunch of writings that exist.
But i don't even want to get too much into my religious affirmations because i also think there are many things in most religious texts that are straight out of reality, could even be mundane things like basic psychology, everyone agrees on those things, that doesn't make me this or that for example, so you'd really have to know me well to judge my religious affirmations and I'd probably fail in conveying them truthfully.

Anyways, does anyone here have drawn any conclusions between angels and psychedelia?

For example one thing i noticed, is how similar a psychedelic experience even visually can be, to an angel opening its wings. I do want to add so you can properly understand what i mean here: I have heard that angels use their wings to fly but i have also read that they use their wings to disguise them, to make them invisible to us and others.
Also we anthropomorphize angels or similar things (one could call them many things i am sure, it is just the term that stuck with me) so we make them look like us when we depict them, or with eyes which is still very "relatable", but many people, me included see them more as something overlapping or existing in some form in this very reality.

So, when you blast off some psychedelic and visions start erupting for example, it might be possible to draw some similarities to a being opening its wings, if it had wrapped its body inside them before doing so.
I do like how it plays out in my mind with the fact that i can look literally anywhere else at that point in my reachable view of vision and the unfolding and curling still appears kind of midway or even everywhere, although my head is turned to somewhere else. Same goes for the metaphorical angel, it is not at some specific point sitting there, at least for me.
Also what actually is happening anyways with these psychedelic visuals OEV's as we call them. I can still sense how firm any material is mostly, my judgement on physical reality might even be more correct, even though everything is whirling at that point.

Anyone was able to draw some similar parallels between those 2 things?
I am happily interested to what other people might have thought about this.
Also haven't found many people where i was able to speak about this in my real life, though there are lots of people on psychedelics etc. I don't know

hmmm psychedelics seem to manifest what is in our heads. Long time ago binging on MDA I rebelled against religion, parents etc. Found myself walking counter clockwise in a circle for periods of time. Not to say this any relation to you, after losing my shit, ending up in psych ward. I imagined life was like a video game. in that I had to do or acknowledge certain things I saw before moving to the next level.

I'm not saying these things I mentioned have anything to do with you except by being drug related. If you are into angels, that's your thing, everyone has a thing. Keep an open mind, don't obsess. Life has a way of naturally guiding people on the road they need to travel.

Yes, i kindly agree and confirm what you are saying.
No, i don't take it personal, i think it is more problematic how i should say what i mean, i feel like its hard to explain what i mean.
I don't think obsessing on anything is good.
It was more meant to be a question if someone can relate or had similar realizations.
Angels really do get tangled into certain contexts.
Like for example all religious books have their take on it.
Most esoteric writings lean into it etc.
If you have some relation to the concept of spirits for lack of a better word, or invisible beings which exist here but which we cannot see.
Like it is no problem i think to believe in those, because if noone sees them who should care anyway right?
But if you can make something in your reality out of those mental concepts, were you able to draw any parallels from it to psychedelic experiences?
I feel its kind of a hard thing to ask, i seldomly get understood in my closest circles.

And i am not excactly into angels although i have some sort of idea about them, but as an artist i am always into different things over some time.
I was into birds for the longest time when i went over to angels it was kind of natural.
I heard some jewish people would call angels 'poultry'? But i heard that when i was already into angels.
It kind of switches between things and evolves as the months go by etc. I mean what my art revolves around

My thing was enlightenment, I felt there was something missing in my being. I read Carlos Castenendo series about a Mexican shaman named Din Juan. All roads lead to where you are supposed to be.

I have seen what I could describe as biblically accurate angels in my trips quite a few times, and I have attempted to draw them as well. I do not know if it was really a being i was in contact with, or just a visual made up in my head. As with a lot of things, we cannot know.

I've met other beings as well, made of machine like clockwork, and ones made of what seems like pure energy.

I often wonder how just a molecule can produce these encounters when consumed. And wheather it was all in my head, or a real encounter with a different being. There is a feeling of mystery and enigma there for sure.

carlos castaneda is great, i read them too
:)

i love those books

if i remember correctly, Don Juan would attribute an angelic or lets better call it spirit like being to a single plant medicine.
Like the mushroom blend he was said to have used would be described by him as a kind of guardian, same with the peyote.
I do adore this kind of mentality.

I can very well follow these recounts. I had similar experiences, and i can only agree. It is one thing to witness something like this in the span of minutes. It is another thing integrating those few minutes. It lingers on, sometimes it makes me think again.

despite what the movie says..somethings written in the series made sense to me and have proven useful in my life

It's an interesting watch for sure.
I'd call that positive and level-headed.
Reading it would probably be a more innate experience as always, but watching it was not bad as the reader is calm, reading thoroughly.
Thanks for sharing!

I had a pretty weird car accident.
It was just a year ago and i fell asleep while driving 130 km per hour, just some weeks before the job ended for good. Was long overdue.
When i woke up the car was in the air drifting to its side because i steered away from the road.
It was basically a little moment only, my seatbelt wasn't put on and i had about 1.2 tons of raw animal flesh loaded in the back.

When i crawled out the car that was lying on its side i realized i wasn't harmed in any significant way.
It was kind of a good experience, because i felt alive again.
Everything was destiny since then, even the most mundane days.

This feeling has slowly faded now and i am basically in a really spaced out place.
More sad/weird stuff happened since then.
I feel like i am communicating so much meaning, i just don't tell it, it is neatly sitting on my tongue.
Same goes for the world it is conveying so much to me.
It is starting to feel sickening really at this moment, and i fell physically ill again a few days ago.

I think those stories about angels just feel soothing to me at these times.
Psychedelics also soothe my mental state, calm me down.
But i don't understand people that good anymore, or maybe well probably they don't understand me either, when i am talking to them.

I just hope i will get into a better place slowly

My dear friend life is a crap shoot, sometimes shit happens and sometimes it doesn't. I wish I knew the difference. I'm really glad you are a part of us....although in reality we've always been here for each other. Thank you,

Castenada was completely pulled out of his arsehole tho - all the stuff about "smoking mushrooms" was cos he had only heard of pot being smoked so he just made up the tradition of "smoking mushrooms"

those novels would have never been as popular, even back then, if they hadn't some kind of 'weird' background so to say.
As far as I know, you can buy them STILL in ANY major bookstore, with the topics at hand?
Something totally fishy about that.
Then again, there are many books like that.

I think to be accepted academically like he has been, (while writing basically anti establishment style) one has to make some compromise ideologically.
Just my two cents.

But considering the stuff he wrote about, it still makes one wonder where he pulled all the rest of that information.
There is surely something about them, at least I enjoyed reading them, but whatever I guess ^^.

And one caan theoretically smoke mushrooms though btw, as he never explained what species of mushroom he was talking about.

But yeah, it is not documentative it is more of a novel of some kind... I'd agree at least on that.
What words excactly have been spun by him and which words are pulled from reality is really anybodys guess^^

I know I still have the paperback somewhere. :) I'll add to the thread when I have time. But if anyone remembers the PCP episode of Hamilton's Pharmacopeia the author Timothy Wyllie wrote a few books worth reading. Describes Angels as non human intelligence. Broad definition.

Many organized belief sets (not only christian) define "angels" as having at least three characteristics in common:

They exist forever and have existed since the beginning
They exist primarily in the non the physical realm but can also exist in the physical level
They have preternatural knowledge: That is to say that they have the ability to "know"things as needed and do not need to learn what the need to know

Just food for thought ...

Timothy Wyllie, thank you it is noted. Never heard of him

regarding Carlos Canstanada, I enjoyed reading Alice In. Wonderland

Alice in wonderland lies somewhere in my shelf already :) I could give that one a read again, I can barely remember. And found it lying around in a free to take book shelf
