This is proven per say but evidence has came to light that repeatedly triggering certain receptors in a certain way has been shown to increase heart valve thickness. Correct me if I'm wrong.

This is why I would not microdose. Why waste a heart valve session with a microdose? (I know, it has helped many people, I just have no patience for people who ONLY ever microdosed without ever experiencing a real dose to be cool)

I remember the discussion on this, seems it is possible some of the anti depressants or anti psychotics also may have risks. We will find half the meds people gobble without thought will have consequences. Keeping my eye out on how ozempic will come to news.

But yes, i have heard this but based off of the trade off it does not scare me. But if I were a young buck with a DMT vape cart I would go easy and space trips out due to this. Some people really overdo.

Not saying there isn't any merit to overactivation of 5-HT2B (this is not news btw) but has anyone here on BL known any frequent psychedelic user to die of heart disease? I haven't..

I do know someone who took psychedelics ranging from LSD to DOB every other day for 20+ years he eventually did die but it wasn't heart related.

your highlighted section is referencing this paper -- Read their summary. It's not the most conclusive wording I've read.

Psychedelic microdosing is the practice of taking very low doses of psychedelic substances, typically over a longer period of time. The long-term safety of chronic microdosing is relatively uncharacterized, but valvular heart disease (VHD) has been proposed as a potential risk due to activation of the serotonin 5-HT2B receptor. However, this risk has not yet been comprehensively assessed. This analysis searched for all relevant in vitro, animal, and clinical studies related to the VHD risk of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), psilocybin, mescaline, N,N-dimethyltryptamine (DMT), and the non-psychedelic 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA). All five compounds and some metabolites could bind to the 5-HT2B receptor with potency equal to or greater than that of the 5-HT2A receptor, the primary target of psychedelics. All compounds were partial agonists at the 5-HT2B receptor with the exception of mescaline, which could not be adequately assessed due to low potency. Safety margins relative to the maximum plasma concentrations from typical microdoses were greater than known valvulopathogens, but not without potential risk. No animal or clinical studies appropriately designed to evaluate VHD risk were found for the four psychedelics. However, there is some clinical evidence that chronic ingestion of full doses of MDMA is associated with VHD. We conclude that VHD is a potential risk with chronic psychedelic microdosing, but further studies are necessary to better define this risk.

it's possible that that's even worse.
I am only joking my friend.

I'm personally boycotting LSD, DMT and psilocybin until further notice
I believe you are only deluding yourself. Did you really think that this stuff would actually have no consequence? Obviously do what you want, but our bodies are a part of this grand cosmic cycle of creation and destruction we call existence. It's giving the energy of those super sheltered religious people who have their world shattered once they realize things are not black and white. On top of that - the air we breathe; the water we drink; and the food we eat is increasingly becoming more poisonous by the hour. The odd chemical trip is not going to spin you horizontal. Relax. We cannot prevent our deaths - only hope to prolong our lives. Just be as healthy as you can and the rest won't really matter.:green banana:💯

Current understanding is that chronic activation is needed for 5-HT2B risk for scarring to occur. As in receptors must be flooded by the agonist during a significant part of the week for long times. I'm not saying that this model might never be revised but all data and knowledge we have currently does not point towards infrequent normal dose psychedelic use being dangerous. Boycotting normal use of classic psychedelics (say every 2 weeks or rarer) over cardiotoxic concerns is - as far as we can tell currently - baseless fearmongering.

What is your agenda? It seems like you currently have a problem with psychedelics (and that is fine, you do you) clouding your judgement and misinterpreting data to fit your narrative.

I mean, been tripping since 1978. For all practical purposes my heart is strong. I go hiking a lot though. But I have never seen any correlation from what I have seen with people I know and heart issues. So I do not worry about this, I had heard this many years ago too. BL has mentioned it for years.

So in a way I do not even think this is anywhere near the same category as saying tobacco smoke causes cancer. Even there some people smoke 70 years and never get cancer. Or ketamine affects the bladder. or nitrous oxide harms the nervous system. Those seem more common than psychedelics affecting the heart valve

Anyone know the method of death if a person has a 100% bad heart valve left untreated? Is it a quick one? (just curious if anyone knows)
