I make no qualms about it, I’ve learned in order for me to sit through worship service with my wife, I have to drown out the sound and activities of the services by listening to my music and focus on whatever I might be doing on my tablet.

This particular morning the opening song was in video format played on the screen, for some reason my hearing aids picked up the music. I don’t like Christian music because it implies everyone agrees with the lyrics, it is a persuasive tool to set the stage for believers to be open to whatever message is presented without resistance.
Believers don’t question or scrutinize god related things associated with the supernatural.

Are they English 'songs of praise'?

Those are generally considered to be the worst songs.

Christianity is a great source of inspiration, but so can other faiths and science + good sense alone empower us.
Islam recognizes Adam, Abraham. Noah and Jesus as a Prophet of Allah but instructs not to elevate humans to God level because that is unwise (Sieg Nein!)

The Church I attend is all in Latin/Greek, the music is either Gregorian chant

How about Mornon music then? (or well not really Mormon music as such, but the two main members of the band were a Mormon couple, and they did occationally entertain lyrics with religious themes):

One of my absolute favorite bands in fact (and no, I am not a Mormon)

Modern "Christian Music" is more a collection of styles of music than associated with any particular religion... Mormons (and Catholics for that matter) are considered to fall under Christian religions, BTW. I've been at Catholic Parishes that use "Christian songs" played with any and all instruments. It's just something I do not prefer.

Slightly off topic: I recently went to Mass at a parish with a predominantly Kenya / Nigerian community and their Liturgy was in the language and used traditional songs and instruments. I preferred that over the "Christian Music" that much of the Novus Ordo Liturgy espouses.

Christian praise music seems to be in 1st person. That is like the person singing is stating the lyrics as their personal commitment to whatever is being proclaimed in the lyrics. If you do not believe this way, singing the lyrics becomes problematic.

The entire worship service is geared to reinforcing group conditioning by peer modeling, tension and relief as presented by the speaker. Consequently the congregation feels renewed or refreshed afterwards having gone through tension and finding relief as presented by the speaker.

It’s not god, it’s psychology and good speakers know this, that’s what makes them appealing.

Things are moving towards a new secular religion that bears little to no resemblance to existing God based religion. I'm glad I'm old and will not likely live to have to bow down under it's authority.
would you mind if I DM'd you?
