Cannabis Any weed substitutes that actually work and can be used at night?

I posted this in the cannabis section but thought I'd also post it in the Aussie section. I've been using weed for years as a way of avoiding alcohol at night, but have been diagnosed with ADHD. I've been referred to a new psychiatrist/ADHD specialist after my old one passed away, but they refuse to prescribe ADHD stimulants unless their clients don't use any weed. I'd like to ask if there are any herbal substances or combos that are available in Australia and have at least SOME psychoactive properties that could be used as pot substitutes at night (i.e. no strong stimulants unless they are very short-acting), or any other substances easily available here that could serve this purpose. I just want something to use at night to give me a bit of a high so I can substitute it for weed. I've tried damiana from a Canberra shop but it had no effects, despite being a strong tincture and me trying a large dose. I also tried blue lotus but only in flower form, which likewise had no effect (I tried making a tea from it). I've heard that wild dagga and klip dagga can be smoked to give an effect but I've already spent too much on herbs that don't work, so I'd like to hear any opinions before I try these. I can't use benzos or z-drugs because I was using those every night for sleep and I ended up having terrible withdrawals, even during the next day in between doses. Any ideas??

Have you heard of or tried Kava before?

It's not a substitute for weed in that it's not similar at all, but it is pretty relaxing and can feel a bit like a very light dose of benzos. It also can help you get a better quality of sleep.

If you want to try it, look online and get some instant powder kava. These are the easiest and (in my experience) strongest. Do not get tablets from the chemist or something, like Blackmore's Kava - that stuff is super low quality.

I did try kava, using instant kava powder purchased from Coles supermarket. I'm not sure it's good quality though, as I used a lot and it still did almost zero. It's supposed to be Fijian noble kava but I still doubt the quality. I did try the tablets before and had to crush up nearly the entire bottle to feel an effect. I will try the Coles brand again though and this time use a lot more.

I sense you mean things that are not cannabis-like but just to be sure, I think it important tonote that those synthetic CB1/CB2 ligands are, by a large margin the most IMPURE class of drug sold anywhere on the planet. Worse, the impurities were also extremely hazardous. I've said it elsewhere but in the next couple of decades we will see a spike in certain cancers and it will be traced back to people using those things.

Meaning isolates like CBN and CBD? I tend to stick with plant material, but are you suggesting that all these hemp cannibanoids include toxic impurities? Wouldn’t be surprised

CBD I have tried and for me was not really psychoactive beyond making me sleepy - what you want in a sleep-aid, I suppose.

I hasten to add that UK law legally controls the plant material and Δ9-THC.

So pure CBD is not controlled. You can buy it.
