Yeah. Even if the L solution doesn't actively glow, against the white background of the blotter it's easier to see the liquid distribution throughout the paper. Definitely always pre prepare everything and work fast and safely. I don't know if it degrades it tbh and I've seen it done w and w/o UV. I've also seen UV used afterwards to examine for hot spots, and I have seen some poorly laid pages in my day as well. I forget the exact concentration typically used. I think it depends on the type of blotter paper being used. A lot of what gets sold as blotter art really isn't meant for laying, but it does work just as well.Is the UV so that you can visually see if you're distributing it evenly? Does the UV degrade the LSD and does this mean you have to work fast, or is it negligible?
Use a clean flat surface that can contain any spills. A lot of people will have a 100 tab square that they use to "Mop up" any wet spots. Fan in the room is recommended but not directly over any drying pages. If you let it dry too long before flipping, the art side of cheaply made blotter pages can get stuck and rip off onto the surface.
If you're working with liquid or breaking down into vials, a little tray of kitty litter or sand so the vials don't tip over is super handy. It also absorbs any overflow keeping your surface uncontaminated. Trust me that's important. I saw someone overfill a vial once and not only did they immediately expose themselves, they ended up exposing themselves days later from the contaminated surface that had not been properly cleaned.
Safety tips:
Wear one set of gloves taped to your skin and another set over them so you can replace the outer pair easily and frequently without contaminating your skin. Be very conscientious of what your fingertips touch and be especially cautious about not getting it on any mucous membrane. Long sleeves, Dust mask and goggles can't hurt but mainly so you don't accidentally touch yourself. If you get exposure on your skin, immediately wash with warm soapy water. Have a dedicated trash bin for contaminated gloves, syringe tips, paper towels etc.
If you get it on your mucous membrane, you should carefully put everything away because you're about to be high.
With basic precautions, care, and planning, it is possible to do this reliably without getting high. It is a bit of an art laying each syringe perfectly, but it's not rocket science and there isn't anything mythological about the process, though I bet some people pray over it...
