In a recent thread a BL member was grieving over the loss of a loved one. My response to her was allow yourself to feel.
On that note, if we allow our minds and bodies to do what they are designed to perhaps with a little help is that the way to wellness?

I think for me my main problem is that the world i live in doesn't perfectly align with what my body tells me.

For example, my natural inclination is to sleep more during the winter and less in the summer, but when i work i am expected to wake up at the same time, which can be frustrating.

After I posted this I thought to myself, well duh of course our bodies know how to repair themselves, but what about our minds? Do they repair themselves from trauma without outside assistance? In the case of mental illnesses, is there a baseline of normality the brain can go back to?
What is normal for the brain? I guess that be a collective majority of brains studied? If this is true, then the criteria for normalcy would change and evolve as society grows and matures. I question the use of the term "mature" The same way I question the term progress. In my opinion it possible for society to regress and still call it progression, either way moving forward does not necessarily mean something beneficial or positive.

moving forward does not necessarily mean something beneficial or positive.
Case in point would you say the US has progressed or declined under the present administration? We moved forward in time and space, however as far as progress is concerned one must define what progress means to them.

To some extent, yes, our body and mind are naturally designed to heal and repair themselves. The body constantly works in the background to fix tissues, fight infections, and maintain balance, like how cuts heal or how we recover after rest. The mind also has a kind of resilience, people can gradually recover from stress or emotional struggles with time and the right environment. That said, it’s not always automatic or enough on its own, things like proper nutrition, sleep, support systems, and sometimes professional help play a big role in how well we recover. So while the body and mind have built-in healing abilities, they usually work best when we support them with healthy habits and care.

Please note additional information in spirituality and philosophy forum about inherited soul-like nucleus core in humans.

yeah your body does a lot on its own but it’s not magic, if you keep feeding it stress, bad sleep, substances, it won’t “self repair” fast, feeling things helps for sure but you still gotta give it decent conditions or it just keeps looping the damage
