This was a good piece of research imo, but had me raging as to how come us Brits get more screwed over for the price of food / cost of living than other comparable countries, with similar average wages, but their living costs are a lot cheaper. British individuals have been buying food from other countries, and even including the costs of the flights, they still make significant savings.
When people try to do this on a larger scale for business reasons, the corporations are stepping in and putting a stop to it.
The summary in brief is that our government bodies allow the UK manufacturer corporations like Nestle etc to make 15% - 20% profits!
Other countries do not allow this. And the majority of the people in the government depts involved in policy making are also on the boards of these corporations, and making money from them, if I understood correctly.
It's corrupt as fuck, and I dont get why more attention isnt being paid to this, as it means we literally pay twice as much for our food. The farmers get less than 1% of the price we pay, the supermarkets get about 3%. By far the largest bulk of the hike in the costs is the manufacturers using rising inflation and rising costs of living over the last few years, to add a sneaky EXTRA few % on top. Just because they can. Because the government is complicit.
Just like the energy companies do, when wholesale prices go up, they use that as their excuse, but they add a little extra profit margin each time too, as it's an opportunity for them to do so.
The guy said it's not due to Brexit, but imho it is. EU countries have better protections against these sort of practices, but we have fuck all. And we get squeezed from all angles.
Why do we have to live in such an utterly shit country, that only cares about the success of the corporations, with no protections or fucks given for the working people.
Fucking sick of it.
I said this guy's channel is good. And it is, but most of his content is along similar lines, and pretty much bound to make you very angry about all the dodgy goings on.
