Dark web - why don't you use it?

My understanding is that it's much safer (quality and legal perspective), higher purity and lower prices.

So for those of you who do not - why not?

First of all crypto currency is traceable from buyer to seller. You can use a coin tumbler but there are risks in using those. These are the main reasons I don't buy drugs on the dark web.

Most markets take only Monero now which is not feasible to trace. Most countries have delisted it from their exchanges now due to this, though it is still easily acquired through coinswaps.

Buying from a CEX, they can see that you bought crypto but that's it. There's no blockchain traceability after that of how much you sent, where you sent, or when. I understand this concern with Bitcoin, but Monero solves this entirely and is not traceable from buyer to seller.

TOR or The Onion Router was developed by US Naval Research. They have the root keys and therefore can see anything they want, especially entry/edit nodes. It is certainly more concealed than what we call the internet but far from anonymous.

TOR stands for the The Onion Router. You are right, it was developed by the US Navy and does continue to receive funding from them. This does not discredit it's reliability or anonymizing properties though. It is open source and anyone can verify this.

Ultimately, if the US government or any nation state wants you, eventually they will get you.

But for purchasing personal amounts of drugs online, this does not apply, as you are not an individual target they are pouring millions of dollars into deanonymizing.

In previous years this was certainly a factor. Each (data) packet is a needle in a network data stream "haystack" and is relatively invisible. But as AI increases in scope and capability I'm not sure how long this will last. NVidia just unveiled new Neural Network Farm infrastructure hardware that breaks all AI networking hardware paradigms. Who knows how future governments will utilize the capabilities and how much control they will want to wield over individuals.

Without being somewhat technically inclined teaching yourself how to use PGP, crypto, verify market links, vet vendors etc can be intimidating and asking for help or accepting help from strangers online without having that foundational knowledge is a sure way to get scammed. Many learn this the hard way.

That said I taught myself how to tor during lockdown because I was bored and never looked back. Lately I've been using telegram more because I'm lazy and it's convenient.

While this is true, they (nor the other two 3-Letter Agencies that likely have access to said keys) couldn't care less about drug transactions, especially lower-level stuff. All that said, I'm sure the FBI/DEA would love to get their hands on said keys, but I doubt that's going to happen anytime soon.

This. And it's easier than you think to get-got, even if you follow opsec to a T. Anonymity is a joke anymore.

This is correct, at least in the States. I know the Feds couldn't care less about personal use amounts.

I've always viewed sourcing through Telegram as a scam waiting to happen. Is there an escrow-based system on certain Telegram channels? Or are you basically FE'ing every single time?

Sad indeed. I've been out of the game for about 7 years now, but back about 2018 / 2019, you could score FIRE gear on the Darknet. Absolutely amazing Coke and Meth, and top-notch sellers.

Essentially. I stick to vendors I've used on the DNMs before and know are reliable but they still expect you to record opening packages in case of missing items otherwise you're SOOL which is obviously less than ideal for opsec reasons, but as I said, lazy.

I miss TMG. There was no escrow there either but it didn't matter.

Of course it can. DW is just a medium a dealer is a dealer. Some have good gear and some don't.

Getting scammed, at least to me, does not seem likely if you buy from a highly rated vendor with lots of positive reviews, escrow and if you verify all the links as well as the final payment address.

Dread also has people discussing quality vendors. I can imagine if you just buy whatever randomly from a vendor with no reviews and FE the purchase without verifying links etc. that could be likely.
