Hi pharmacist here. Nothing fancy, just a short list I wish every patient knew:
  • Always check dose math (start low).
  • Be aware of combos (alcohol + sedatives is the big one).
  • Keep a list of meds and share with your prescriber.
If you want I can expand any of these or share a quick primer on reading pill markings.

Could you do that, please?
Sure, I can try to explain it in a simple way.

When I check a pill (in clinic or sometimes even for friends), I mostly look at three things:
• shape and color (like, round white, oval light blue)
• the imprint code (numbers or letters)
• overall texture or surface quality

That imprint code is usually the key. If you put those letters or numbers into a pill ID tool or database, it should tell you exactly what it is supposed to be, including the dose. If the pill doesn’t have any imprint at all, it’s usually one of three things: a supplement, something made in another country that doesn’t require markings, or a pressed pill. Pressed ones can look almost perfect now, so I always tell people not to trust appearance alone.

Also, even when a pill looks 100 percent real, it doesn’t always mean it’s safe. Some legit meds can still interact badly with other stuff you might be taking. That’s the part a lot of people don’t really think about.
