So I've previously struggled with ADHD, bipolar depression and social anxiety, and have noticed a recurrence of symptoms that has been at least somewhat problematic in my daily life.

I'm also getting back into experimenting with psychedelics (mainly LSD, but mescaline and psilocybin mushrooms both have their plusses as well) - both light micro-to-mini dosages (≤85 micrograms) for enhancing abstract, creative thinking as well as mood and moderate-to-higher dosages (anything over 100 micrograms) for more deep, inner voyages, consciousness-expansion and spiritual exploration.

The "psychotropic cocktail" that I've been on, after trial-and-error, that has worked better than all other combinations is: Abilify, Lexapro, Wellbutrin, Lamictal and mirtazapine.

I'm aware that Lexapro as a newer SSRI significantly weakens psychedelics, but mirtazapine and aripiprazole in particular have both been reported to blunt or terminate psychedelic experiences, while Wellbutrin and Lamictal are not reported to have any adverse interfering effects with psychedelics.

So would it have to one or the other (psychedelics or psychotropic medications), or is there a happy-medium possible here?

Are you saying that you were previously taking Abilify, Lexapro, Wellbutrin, Lamictal and mirtazapine but aren't taking any of these anymore? And now you are experiencing a return of some symptoms? If yes, then If you don't mind me asking: how long were you on these meds and how long has it been since you quit?

In general, both SSRIs and atypical antipsychotics substantially interfere with if not outright block the effects of psychedelics. Anecdotes involving SSRIs suggest that the amount of interference varies a bit between individuals. Some people get most of the effects. Some others get weak or muted effects. Others still get nothing at all. I don't have much to go on, but for atypical psychotics or multiple SSRIs, I would not expect psychedelics to work much if at all.

I should also point out that whatever long-term benefits there are from psychedelics may be blocked or seriously blunted as well, but I'm not aware of any kind of clinical studies of these things.

Welcome to bluelight.

If you are prescribd such a cocktail i imagine its for a diagnosed disorder?

I would stay away from psychedelics

When i was on meds mirtazepine [best as anti-depressant], Pregabalin [GAD]
and ADHD so also dextro-Amphetamine. Till a dr. felt need to stop my prescription.
Making me go get one again at a psychiatrist, trying happened at least 4 times.
Wonder if they do this to create work = money. Or are just stupid.

But during taking them, i didn t take Psychedelic s, i advise the same.
Just follow the medication course till you feel a bit yourself again.
I never felt the need to do a trip btw. During that dark period.
Numbing, painless and stimulation and Weed got me through.

Now without medication, i am 50 +, i must admit Psychedelic s have a positive effect.
On my mind, but only when i have taken em and after, and i limit myself to once a ...

Whenever Acid wants, and the setting is right. Psilocybine i can t stand the trip.
Bad every-time, but the after effect are stronger then Lysergic s.
But i can t assess your mind state and the effect it will have.
Age place a role to, 20 year s ago LSD would bite my ass.

I d wait where i you. And maybe a sitter when it is the right time.
Is it your first time ?

LSD is actually what saved my life.
I used to be very suicidal.
I had a trip once that wrenched me out of that.
Had I never taken that trip, I would have never had that thought and that epiphany.
And so I am forever eternally thankful for that experience.

Acid has generally been a net positive for me.
I've done probably around 256 hits of blotter in about 8 - 10 years time.
I used to trip on every equinox, my birthday, and for new years.

Acid also made me very heavily into mysticism and even more of a spiritual person than I already was.
It sorted out a lot of my problems that anti-depressants just couldn't get to.

I stopped tripping however, because I hit a point where I felt like it'd run its course for usefulness.

It was never a party drug to me, I'm a creative introvert, so it was more like an entheogen kind of an experience, most of my trips were solo trips.

I will never recommend any drug to anybody, because I understand how drugs affect different people in different ways and I have had friends report back bad trip reports from acid as well so, I mean, it certainly isn't for everyone. But I do owe it for keeping me alive and getting my head on straight and putting my life down the right path again.
