First thing never be ashamed of being British, just because our government is crap all the time, lots of people around the world would love to have our passport. We live a very liberal lifestyle where we can speak freely, not get jailed for just being a journalist or killed. We have food, water and shelter all for free from the state, not much I know, but I have seen kids begging for food and water, that hurts your heart.

Remember that the only period we saw improving living standards, life expectancy was a brief 30 year period from 1945-79 when the rich were made to pay tax to improve society. For the thousand years before that, and where we are rapidly heading back to, is the top 10% having all the money and everyone else close to destitution.

A working man now gets the same wages he did 50 years ago. All the gains we got from socialism have been taken back by the rich.

I'm unfollowing this thread now, we will never agree, never get a good government, never improve society unless some mega technology comes along to make everyone feel great. (Unlimited energy, unlimited health etc...science fiction stuff)

Reform might get a bit of short term success and do some good stuff but only cause it's " needing done" and no ones doing it. After that it will probably uncover other problems whack a mole style - plus short term fixes usually cost more overall.
