What country has either a legal or unenforced and somewhat easily accessible unfettered supply of quality opioids (powerful pharma or heroin) for cheap (or not) that would be welcoming to a foreigner? What would be the closest place to what I describe for this type of getaway?

Bonus points if you get to see real poppy fields.

Which country? Myannmar is where it’s at but it’s controlled by a violent authoritarian military so not that chill. Which bordering country won’t bother westerners and has cheap and abundant dope?

Bump because I’m kinda disappointed in the responses here.

Seems like opioid tourism isn’t much of a thing which makes sense. The drug ties you down to your local area very badly and drains finances.

But I want to go somewhere like this.

Southeast Asia seems like the best spot but I don’t know which countries are tolerant of it.

rural eastern europe hippies camp out all over cooking up field dope idk google it, vice did something about it

Parts of Colombia have heroin, said to be okish and cheap. Don't know how safe those street are for a foreigner; speaking Spanish may help, but only to a degree, I guess.
In Marroc, personal experience, there is (or was) opium to be had and also a heroin scene (that I would avoid). They say also in Egypt, but I don't know.
Lebanon's Bekaa valley has its things to offer, but with Israel and Hezbollah at play situation is volatile.
I bet that opioids in Pakistan can't be rare, maybe parts of India
Cambodia has, or had years ago, good reviews from visitors who said that you could get h and even legit strong pharma meds otc in some greysh pharmacies, but again I don't know first hand.
In Western Europe, (specially UK, Netherlands-Belgium, Spain-Portugal but also in other places) fent free brown heroin still exists. Of course, prizes of drugs and everything else are far more expensive that in other parts of the World, but despite that, It could be your safest option.

I have considered Portugal as I believe "small amounts of anything" are legal -- ease of access I can not speak to ---- I may be too Irish pasty american to do well there.

There are places like Norway and Sweden --- Seems like on one of these doc's I saw there was a place that supplied not only the clean rig but diacetyl so you it was REGULATED (Sounds like a dream, I question if I saw it correctly) That was one of those european countries that are more progressive with less shootings. (oh that's all of them, hangs head)

**edit I think it was the Netherlands ** (Idk what you have to do to qualify seemed like ppl were just wandering in but surely not)----- Czechia, the Netherlands, Portugal and Switzerland are among a handful of countries that have decriminalized drug use and possession for personal use and that have also invested in harm reduction programs.

How many times does it need to be said?
Afghan days are long over, unless you wanna go chill with The Northern Alliance you won't get any Heroin there.

Perhaps it was not Norway; as it does not appear on the list of legalized countries. Classic American ignorance... nah Norway has a HAT (Heroin Assisted Treatment) program https://bmchealthservres.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12913-024-10767-w
--edit --- that makes it extra crazy a dude chopped his arm off with a sword. As a sword collector and someone that has johnny depped my finger -- damn that is intense

What yr were you there? Now I am even more ignorant that when I didn't know at all somehow.... lol

Can you afford mercs to get you to the dope -- cuz that would be a game changer and maybe the mid -- far east would be back in

*edit I think it was the Netherlands

Yes, in Netherlands, Austria, Denmark... diamorphine programs do exist, but it's not a very common thing and probably only for nationals or at least legal residents. I think small eastern Euro countries like Croatia and Serbia have good hr facilities, also.

There are places like Norway and Sweden

I think that you mistake Sweden and Swiss. In the late there are indeed advanced harm reduction programs with morphine and diamorphine apart of mdone. Sweden is exactly the opposite, it's the most restrictive western euro country regarding drugs, their police even goes to summer festivals and randomly test peoples urine for drugs, go figure.. Greek laws aren't drug friendly, too.

I have considered Portugal as I believe "small amounts of anything" are legal -- ease of access I can not speak to ---- I may be too Irish pasty american to do well there.

There is a big misundertanding about Portugal and legal drugs. Drugs are illegal but you don't get arrested and legally prosecuted over small amounts, you just get fined with like 300 €. Spain is the same but fines are more expensive, like 400€. There are some differences, like Portugal, in some cases can force you to undergo treatment, and Spain may legally punish you if they catch you with drugs too often. That's what law says but I have never seen such thing happening.
Drugs are more or less accesible depending on the kind you want and the location you are at. But both countries are human to their addicts.
Of course speaking their (our) national languages and being dark eyed/haired helps, but you shouldn't have problems being an Irish american, there are a lot of blonde blue eyed dudes living their lives no problem. Only thing is that some foreigners live for years in Spain/Portugal and refuse to learn a single local word, cause they think that it's the local people who have to speak English for them. Such people lose people's respect and will be scammed forever, they get the worst drug avaliable at the highest prize possible, but they deserve it, if you ask me.

You are correct my us public school raised brain confused Sweden and the Swiss! -- My apologies and no offensive meant I'm just ignorant... Ok Sweden restrictive I will make a note of that.

I figured they were probably for nationals but the guy with vice got right in there (granted he did not get a shot) --- it had a walk in type look to it. (But than again I'm use to things looking American and there would be some armed guards there forsure).

Portugal -- Hmm I believe you speak from experience; someone was dumb enough to put it in writing that small amounts were legal and I was dumb enough to repeat it. Mandatory treatment sucks (Unless its HAT) haha.

So it kind of sounds like Spain or (Perhaps) the Netherlands may be your best bet legally. Not legally golden triangle perhaps I would not know where... As a tourist I am sure you won't get busted repeatedly --- don't seem like that kind of guy. We were thinking about moving to Portugal not drug touristing so it is interesting you say that. Wow that is arrogance to not learn the language - Portuguese is not quite Spanish is it? Those people deserve to be scammed eternally --- convenience cost of not learning the language; same as convenience cost of living in a suburb and not driving into metro yourself. (same kind of respect loss too now that I think about it)

Are you more familiar with Spain or Portugal because we were scared out of moving to Portugal for too much violence -- if there is a way around that without paying exorbitant amounts I would love to know; same with Spain.

**edit* Thank you for the insight Senor Moreno --- and reluctantly thank you for the correct inference of my mistakes haha

Yes, I know both places cause I live by the border, in the Spanish side. I am Spanish but I also speak Portu, it's a lovely language, it sounds sweet and soft, and it's indeed different from Spanish; phonetically they are very different and portus often understand Spanish better than spaniards understand Portu.
Portugal is not violent at all, even big cities are safe, appart of some dodgy hoods. Spanish cities are bigger and more dangerous, specially Barcelona, but I will rate Spain as a safe place nevertheless.
Portuguese have often better manners and are less loudy than spaniards, but their society is often more conservative and working class doesn't struggle as hard as spanish one, wich is more combative.
Moving to Portugal may be a good idea if you fancy a change in your live. I would avoid the Algarve - touristic place in the South- and Lisboa& Porto cause it's all too turistic and more expensive. I myself like very much Braga, the third city wich is in the North.
If you choose Spain, avoid mediterranean shitholes.
Be aware that in the iberic peninsula, summers are hell the more to the South, or the more inner land you move. Sevilla is these days at 42° Celsius (like 110 Farenh.) and summer didn't even arrived.

I wouldn't call it tourism, but I'm familiar with folks who grow their own poppies to self supply opiates. I know that in Mexico near the border you can often buy oxy at insane prices, tramadol at quite low prices, but if you're looking for specifically heroin your best bet is going to be contacting a supplier of bulk poppies, reading Opium For The Masses, then probably employing a chemist to do the work for you as it is far too dangerous to be done in a kitchen.
