Bible verse of the day!! Get your daily study on.

Do not disgrace your father by having sexual relations with your mother.

-- Leviticus 18:7
Wtf, sexual with your Mom. To me a bit disgusting. A sister or niece egual so. But you mean Mom ?

That s not Bible stuff, its common sense. Was Leviticus 18:7 perverted or ment the opposite.
Come one get some relevant quote's believers. Before you go on, reciting a written.
Version of a HalleluJah. Sayin round 0 many humans were pervert s. I doubt it.

There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses.

Ezekiel 23:20

Ezekiel 23: 1-25 A Tale of Two Sisters (for context)

The word of the Lord came to me:
“Son of man, there were two women, daughters of the same mother.
They became prostitutes in Egypt, engaging in prostitution from their youth. In that land their breasts were fondled and their virgin bosoms caressed.
The older was named Oholah, and her sister was Oholibah. They were mine and gave birth to sons and daughters. Oholah is Samaria, and Oholibah is Jerusalem.
Oholah engaged in prostitution while she was still mine; and she lusted after her lovers, the Assyrians
warriors clothed in blue, governors and commanders, all of them handsome young men, and mounted horsemen.
She gave herself as a prostitute to all the elite of the Assyrians and defiled herself with all the idols of everyone she lusted after.
She did not give up the prostitution she began in Egypt, when during her youth men slept with her, caressed her virgin bosom and poured out their lust on her.
“Therefore I delivered her into the hands of her lovers, the Assyrians, for whom she lusted.
They stripped her naked, took away her sons and daughters and killed her with the sword. She became a byword among women, and punishment was inflicted on her.
“Her sister Oholibah saw this, yet in her lust and prostitution she was more depraved than her sister.
She too lusted after the Assyrians—governors and commanders, warriors in full dress, mounted horsemen, all handsome young men.
I saw that she too defiled herself; both of them went the same way.
“But she carried her prostitution still further. She saw men portrayed on a wall, figures of Chaldeans portrayed in red,
with belts around their waists and flowing turbans on their heads; all of them looked like Babylonian chariot officers, natives of Chaldea.
As soon as she saw them, she lusted after them and sent messengers to them in Chaldea.
Then the Babylonians came to her, to the bed of love, and in their lust they defiled her. After she had been defiled by them, she turned away from them in disgust.
When she carried on her prostitution openly and exposed her naked body, I turned away from her in disgust, just as I had turned away from her sister.
Yet she became more and more promiscuous as she recalled the days of her youth, when she was a prostitute in Egypt.
There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses.
So you longed for the lewdness of your youth, when in Egypt your bosom was caressed and your young breasts fondled.
“Therefore, Oholibah, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will stir up your lovers against you, those you turned away from in disgust, and I will bring them against you from every side
the Babylonians and all the Chaldeans, the men of Pekod and Shoa and Koa, and all the Assyrians with them, handsome young men, all of them governors and commanders, chariot officers and men of high rank, all mounted on horses.
They will come against you with weapons, chariots and wagons and with a throng of people; they will take up positions against you on every side with large and small shields and with helmets. I will turn you over to them for punishment, and they will punish you according to their standards.

If a man meets a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, he shall pay her father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.

Deuteronomy 22:28-29

The Mosaic Law was very interesting wasn't it ?
It was fulfilled by Christ's death on the cross because as humans it was very difficult if not impossible for us to fulfill.
He told us the Law from that point on is to love each other.

I dig Jesus for the most part, as he had a lot of good things to say. I wish the "Christian" Right actually paid attention to what he advised.

But even Jesus was flawed. In these passages he curses a fig tree for having no figs while figs were not in season:

WTF?

I've read interpretations like:

Jesus cursing the fig tree symbolizes the rejection of the religious leaders and the city of Jerusalem, who were outwardly devout but lacked true spiritual fruit. The fig tree, which was barren when it should have been bearing fruit, represents Jerusalem and its people, who outwardly appeared to be serving God but were inwardly corrupt. This act foreshadows the destruction of the temple and the rejection of Israel as God's chosen people

If you figure it out let us all know. 👍

For sure I don't know everything

...The fig tree, which was barren when it should have been bearing fruit....
That would make sense except for the fact that every translation I've seen states specifically that figs were not in season at the time-- something you'd think Jesus (and everyone around him) would know.

But trying to make logical sense of Scripture is probably a fool's errand.

I no longer believe that all scripture was divinely inspired, and I feel more comfortable coming to this conclusion. I find inspiration in quite a few bible verses, however, and as a whole I love the gospels. It does make sense that the cursing of the fig tree may be open to interpretation.

I get more consistent inspiration from Buddhism, although it too has its flaws

If you're talking about human behavior, sure.
But if everything happens exactly as it must happen (which I suspect it does), then is anything flawed?
Or it just is.
I was actually talking about perception which one of the roots of experience. ;)
One's experience is inherently filtered through human nature, yet experience is not the fullness of reality, just a sliver of it.

Do not neglect to do good, to contribute [to the needy of the church as an expression of fellowship], for such sacrifices are always pleasing to God. Hebrews 13:16
