Hi there guys, I amvtotally new to this site but you all seem like so well informed and a compassionate community so thought I would post here for some guidance.
My baby angel Bulldog died 2 days ago. I don't have children and he was my one true love in life. My best buddy. He was only 3 and I had to witness the slow death infront of my eyes...I will be forever traumatised by that day. And as you can imagine the grief I am feeling right now is all consuming. The panic attacks are so debilitating and I get no reprieve from this hell. My doctor was so good and prescribed me some 0.5 xanax but to complicate things further I have a malabsorption so it's not being absorbed by my GI tract (im waiting to have surgery). My doc tried to look for sublingual version but it's not available in my country. The only sublingual benzo available would have me comatosed and too strong. I don't want to waste anymore by taking orally, is there any other way so I can just get a moment of reprieve from this pain? Any help greatly appreciated and thank you. I just want him back so bad :(

See the problem is im given what im given. It's not really like that in Ireland, you're lucky to get anything. So I have to work with what I have.

I’m really sorry to hear about the loss of your pup. I know how heartbreaking it is to lose a dog. My dogs were my boys. They were family.

I’m just curious, what other benzo option is on the table?

Personally, I put all benzos under my tongue and let them melt. I kinda swear by it. I know others that say it does nothing for them.

Might be worth your while to ask your doctor about clonodine. It’s a BP medication but it works wonders for a ton of things. If you’re not someone who has a tolerance to benzos, you could be given 0.1mg clonodine and think it was a 10mg diazepam. They’re very similar and don’t come with the same risks that benzos do.

They’re sedating but not so much to the point that you become useless. If you’re having a hard time sleeping, which I assume you are, they’re good for that as well. They can drop your blood pressure, so definitely make sure all is okay on that front.. but I’m sure your doctor would tell you the same thing. Just a suggestion.. it could help you through this incredibly difficult time.

Sending love your way <3

Such a kind, lovely message ❤️ Thank you for taking the time to reply to me. Us dog people get it. I have had family members pass before and none have been as cruel as this. My GP suggested I try crush up the pill and then administer under my tongue. She is aware of all of my gastro issues and has been amazing. But before trying that just wanted to see if there were any other routes. I imagine the taste will be awful but whatever works. I think the only other sublingual meds available where I am are for palliative and hospice patients which I ofcourse understand is not for this. Thank you so much for your kind words.

Do not take drugs if you can avoid it. Pray.
Erm. Not too sure about this reply. Your tone is not really translating and I find it to be diminishing the experience I am going through currently and the genuine help I am asking for. Considering your other posts on discussions have been on how 'fucked up and high' you can get on DXM. wrong thread to reply on dude. I'm not looking for a recreational buzz, im looking for a moments reprieve from this exhaustion.

I had a rough go when I had to make the decision to put my dogs down 6 months apart from each other. It was devastating. But seems like you had to go through something more intense than that :(

To be honest, I’ve never had a benzo that I didn’t like the taste of. I found xanax to be sort of minty if my memory serves me right. It’s been a couple years since I’ve had them.
I haven’t heard many people say they didn’t like the taste. Crushing it could work, but I’d just pop it under my tongue and it’d be gone in a minute or so. That’s what I do with my diazepam.
Maybe try both ways to see if there’s a noticeable difference? What works for others may not work the same for you (and vice versa).

I hope you get the relief you’re looking for.. and hang in there <3

You're an angel Pixie, thank you ❤️

I know your question was about other ROA’s, but I’ve been taking CBD oil lately and I find it really does help my anxiety/restlessness. I don’t enjoy THC at all.. but CBD has been really calming. I know the circumstances are much different but who knows.. it may work for you as well. Again, just a suggestion :)

I get it completely, grief is the price we pay for love - who/what has left our lives is irrelevant. I always kinda pity the people who may scoff "It's only a dog/cat/whatever" because these people have never experienced the level of intense relationship/love that is possible to cultivate with a non-human being - their loss

I also 100% understand the intense difficulties of raw grief and that we may well need to soften the edges of that experience. Also though, we really need to remember that, unfortunately, you cannot medicate yourself out of the grief process, merely kicking the can down the road is the extent of the achievement - so to 'recover', eventually we have to feel the pain, turn towards it and not away from it so we can process. No judge mate not even 1%, just honesty. Massive virtual hugs and deep condolences for your loss.

Only benzo that was ever minty in taste was clonazepam. Alprozalam was always bitter and very much so or at least to my knowledge from daily use. Had a 0.5mg clonazepam today that was minty and 5mg diazepam that was more chalky but neutral in flavor.

Just my exp.

But back to OP. Careful of using this longer then 5 days or so as addiction develops quickly without you even knowing.

Best of luck and sorry for your loss.

I was prescribed them for years, but my memory is basically dog shit. Go figure

Sublingual, if they are XR [extended release] crush em.
The taste of Alprazolam, bitter, when under the tongue.
But your out no time, a hard hitter hypnotic

0.25/ 0.5 enough for a nice rest, but the ER dose ?
Maybe take 1/2 if they are 1 mg. YMMV.

Lol no worries. But think you have the benzos to blame for that reason I wanna get of them asap
Oh dude.. 100%… it’s brutal. Benzos and sleeping pills have turned my brain into mush. I’m on lower doses than I used to be but it doesn’t matter at this point. 20 years of prescriptions plus buying more on the side has definitely made a significant impact.
