Will i see a decent government before i die?

The underlying point is that deregulation is fundamentally a right wing policy. Almost by definition in fact. The banks only did what they did because the avowedly right wing American government deregulated them and allowed them to do it.

I will gladly watch your video and get back to you on it…however, your homework for me is to find any scrap of any aspect of this which was caused by the Left. I’ll wait…

To answer my own question, "No, because they are all a bunch of self serving cunts that only have their own interests at heart".

None of them care about YOU!

The sad fact is; the type of person who is attracted to politics, is not the type of person you would want in charge of the country. Anyone with a genuine desire to do good, just won't cut the mustard in this corporate world.

Remember, "Life's a piece of shit, when you look at it".

And those that claim any different, are just snake oil salesman.

Meh... :\

There must be some who get into it to do good

Very few these days it seems to me. I've become so bored and disillusioned with British politics especially that I no longer actively go out of my way to keep up with events.

Over the years I was following the news, and watching Question Time etc, it seemed to me that regardless of party, there were few characters that had genuine principles and beliefs, along with that kind of charisma that made you interested enough to listen to what they were saying. Off the top of my head the first names that come to mind are Tony Benn, Charles Kennedy (just about the only MP who was not on the fiddle with his expenses), Kenneth Clarke, Michael Heseltine. Jeremy Corbyn also of course, but he did himself no favours by refusing to play the media game, and so they destroyed him. I think they would have destoyed him regardless. The overwhelmingly right wing media, and considering what Corbyn stood for.

I can literally count them on the fingers of one hand, there have been so few :ROFLMAO:

People like Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage are charismatic and engaging public speakers, but that doesn't mean that I would trust them or vote for them.

Unfortunately question time is a terrible program now

Seems you are right, excuse the pun. It's more likely a right wing policy would deregulate the banks and allow them to run riot, however the scale of the 2008 credit crash could well have happened under any watch.

Interestingly, the internet has just informed me that right wing ideas tend to favour lower taxes ( thus left wing is higher taxes). I'm in favour of lower taxes as I assume most people are.

^^

I would say I am in favour of appropriate taxes. That is to say the richest should pay the most, the poorest the least. This seems self evident to me.

The problem with the tax system in the UK is that Thatcherism (that includes Blair imo) sold off all the wealth we’d build up since the post-war years. Short term profits for the few at the expense of the many (ie the poors). We end up with shittier services at higher prices cos we now have to pay the middleman (ie shareholders) whilst central government usually gets stuck paying for the infrastructure.

We pay around the same level of taxes as the Scandiwegians but get none of the infrastructure or social security support because every government we get has to pay back the deficits built up by successive governments raiding the public sector to line their own pockets through privatisation and PFI schemes.

It’s fukkin disgusting and the majority of the country seem poised to vote for even greater levels of austerity, privatisation (the NHS firmly on the chopping block this time cos there’s nothing else left to sell off) and yet more redistribution of wealth from the poorest to the richest.

And all because… brown people and transes. Yeah, they’re the real problem. Nothing to do with rich cunts lining their pockets with the wealth produced by the impoverished masses.

Don’t look behind the curtain. There’s no rich elites back there. It’s brown people in small boats. And the transes. Obviously.

I don't mind paying taxes so long as it's used to fund the NHS.

Huh, I guess I do mind paying taxes.
But the tax at the moment is too high. Labour have just seen to that, citing that it's cause of the mess left by the Tories. They blame them for everything but only some of it is justified.

Reform may not be the best thing but at least they have a policy or taking the lower paid out of tax -£20k was mentioned. It's a good idea.

Let's not kid ourselves that the boats shouldn't be stopped too . We DO need to stop them and of course smash the gangs.

Id love the tax to go into NHS too. I would start charging a very small amount of money to see a GP (,£5) and thus raise loads. Wouldn't apply to kids or people on benefits.

Reform certainly talk a good game..and Nigel wasn't there. Talks certainly better than labour did in the lead up to 2024

So… around 80B in tax cuts is what they’re promising… based on saving… what exactly? What’s being cut to fund this? Let me guess: the NHS and another round of generalised austerity.

Where exactly is that 350B in cuts to fund this coming from?

Or maybe it’s to be a Trumpian spiralling of my inflation. Or, most likely, both. So, ultimately, more of the same.only more more of the same exactly as I pointed out above. Shocker
