How dumb would it be to throw some tobacco in coffee and dry it out to make some tasty spliffs? Or other shit like cocoa?

Depends on the tobacco kind (pipe tobacco or really moist "loose" rolling tobacco work fine), but you can always enclose your tobacco for a bit with some aromatic flavors. Vanilla extract works fine, but if you can always soak any flavor into a bit of strong alcohol or PEG and let your tobacco stew with those.

Fronto leaves?

Fronto leaves?
Not familiar with those, I just buy the tobacco pouches (West, usually, Amber Leaf in the UK, something like that) and stash it in a small, sealed box with a small cup for something aromatic. Like a DIY humidor that keeps my tobacco from drying out.

Those fronto leaves would probably work, but you'd have to ask someone who uses them I'm afraid.

Thanks! I might try throwing some myrrh oil on a blunt to see if it really does have any opioidergic activity (it's reputed to be kappa activity from what I've seen, not much research on it though) cause I'm in a fuck ton a pain from a dental procedure. I'll try your method with some more smelly oils. I appreciate it.

So you would definitely not soak it or spray with anything like coffee or tea?

I've not tried spraying directly, but I can't see why it wouldn't work though. Try it with a very small amount of aromatic stuff on a small amount of tobacco and let it sit airtight for a while? Also if the tobacco gets soaked it needs to dry for a while.

*edit:* I used to smoke tobacco a lot, and sometimes a cigar as well and had a small box for a humidor. Basically the smokables then water/PEG in a small cup. Sometimes I added a shot of whiskey there to sit along the stuff. Worked great but it was fairly subtle aromawise.

Cool. I'll try this out next time I make a cup of coffee, which is pretty rare these days, lol.

In ancient times, myrrh has been used as analgesics, which is possibly due to bioactive constituents present in them acting as pain relievers (El Ashry et al. 2003).
Two sesquiterpenoid compounds, furanocudesma-1, 3-diene, and curzerene present have been reported to be acting on the receptors opioid in the central nervous system, bringing about anesthetic activity.

This thread isn't really violating any guidelines, though we prefer the HR forums to contain threads pertaining directly to personal safety. This sounds more like a fun idea for a side project. No harm done. I'm going to compromise by moving you over to Cannabis discussion. I hope you find some good answers over there!

Thanks man, forgot about this thread till now but a good time to remember it as I just started harvesting my home grown nicotiana rustica, but the flavor is very distinctive, not bad imo, but those I've shared it with think its nasty, lol.

The coffee idea would work best if you concentrate the coffee in the least amount of water. That way you get a more concentrated product and it's simpler to dry the tobacco. Think laying a sheet of blotter paper in concentrated LSD solution. For cacao you can buy cacao "absolute" which is basically solvent extracted cacao. You can also get coffee and cacao CO2 extracts but those will contain fats so better suited for edibles. You can get CO2 extracts for many interesting things legally.

What about the psychoactive terpenes you find in cannabis/hops? Terpene isolates are widely available these days thanks to their popularity with the cannabis crowd. People are vaping/smoking/eating terpenes in dabs/vaporisers/regular joints/edibles etc. Chewing resins like myrrh/frankincense is an age-old thing.

I used to spread on a rizzla (rolling paper) ~½ drop of an essential oil using a toothpick, for added "effects". Ironically, the descriptions given by aromatherapy gives a good idea of the psychoactive nature of an oil. On the research side of things, they've found that terpenes interact with a range of areas/receptors including dopamine, serotonin (HT1A, 2A), opioid, glutamate, GABA, acetylcholine, cannabinoid, adenosine and more.
