US Politics the 2025 trump presidency thread

And don't forget restore purchasing power to the dollar. which has been destroyed over the past century since the Fed came around.
It's just that those that want to end the fed and have some momentum behind it generally get a hit put on them. out of fear, they won't do it.
And cutting spending in the federal governemnt, or public sector, means lower taxes where you get to keep the fruits of your labor.

can you give me one or two examples of a hurdle he has dismantled to improve your access?

nothing? ok. thanks.

It's not that I don't charge you guys for my time. it's that you don't pay.
Consider making a donation to The Ions Institute if it makes you that unhappy.

lol. when i buy something, i pay money and get something of value in return. it's a market and nobody is buying what you're charging for.

Exactly. nobody is buying my material. @alasdairm
Why is I would give you music and reading material with a donation to The Ions Institute.
It's not good enough per industry standards. But there's value. It's above and beyond.

sorry, it's off topic. Delete if you'd like.

He's trying to get the private sector going. Instead of creating jobs that are in the public sector.
An economy thrives with a free market in the private sector.
Whether we can get rid of the fed, because that's the motor that keeps the deep state running.
I am the last sign of the private market. Where I can charge people for my time, and get paid for it.
That's one indicator. It hasn't happened yet. It's not that I don't charge you guys for my time. it's that you don't pay.
Consider making a donation to The Ions Institute if it makes you that unhappy.
The private sector is doing just fine why do you think there are so many billionaires. Because they're in charge and write laws to benefit themselves while pretending to care about those of us in the working class like you and me

They stoke fears about nonsense like immigrants to distract you while their hands are in our pockets

Why Americans working two jobs and that’s not enough strong?
Deregulation has been benefiting the private sector over the citizenry. There were individuals with more net worth at Trump's inauguration than nation states. These are the people who have been dismantling the regulatory apparatus of our society in favor of their own profits - selling it to you as "freedom from the deep state". They hold up an illusion of prosperity for all full knowing that you'll never actually benefit from it, but you'll empower them to get theirs. At the end of the day, individualism benefits individuals, not societies. If you were lucky to have been born into wealth, or happened to capitalize on the next big thing as it was coming up (Zuckerberg is an example), then sure you might break through. Most of us will struggle to stay afloat while they build superyachts. They're building AI to make humans obsolete, so they can be fully insulated from competition. Trump is enabling this to happen because it benefits him financially and keeps him in the spotlight, protected from felony prosecutions.

He dope-fiended America because half the country liked his swagger on "The Apprentice".

well put.

the irony is totally lost on those who support them, against their own interests.

I was thinking about this the other day. He has channeled the forces of addiction to his benefit.

He stokes paranoia (cannabis)
He uses fiery rhetoric that appeals to the drunk
He aligns with fringe/alternative medicine (psychedelics)
He aligns with crypto (gambling)
He has masterfully manipulated social media at a time Americans are hopelessly addicted to their phones (Look at the tiktok situation)
During 2016, the biggest predictor of a county voting for Trump was overdose rates from opioids.

He appeals to the very vices that cripple the working class, using those forces like a drug dealer manipulates their clientele - always giving just one more hit as long as you show up for him.

There’s nothing wrong with being rich. Like I said somewhere else, money does things to people. There’s such a thing as good money and bad money.
The actions that one takes to get the money is what is bad not the money itself

You don't get to be a billionaire without screwing other people over

I don't care if people have a lot of money

I care when people are able to get so insanely rich and use that to control the levers of power and dominate the people who work in their businesses or others who don't have the same means

I care when that getting insanely rich includes things like running sweatshops or making their warehouse workers pee in bottles

right!

which is why i give donald trump credit for not making all his tacky, branded shit in china, bangladesh and elsewhere.
