Hi everyone, not new to BL as I have browsed it for years, but I’ve only just recently joined. I want somewhere to participate and hopefully forge connections that is not the inane, censored black hole of Reddit.

I am a quiet, nicely behaved benzo addict. I have and tried the gambit of them, though no RCs. Recently added Baclofen to my life to try to reduce my cravings and stretch my klon prescription longer. Ask me anything about benzos. I know a decent amount.

I am, as my SN suggests, constantly seeking oblivion. I live two lives. In one I am employed in a job I’d lose if my addiction were discovered, a suburban housewife, and taking care of my sick parents in my free time. In my dream life I am free of this claustrophobic suburban life, I am living in a little cottage in the Orkney Islands with just my dog. No more snarles of traffic, big box stores, bottomless pit of needs from people who can give very little by no fault of their own. No more need to seek oblivion as I’ll have all the quiet I crave.

How did you get interested specifically in the idea of the Orkneys? I get the attraction of quiet peaceful little islands to chill out on and forget the outside world.

🤫 Welcome, same kinda path.

Though oblivion, a thing i find in Lysergic trips.
During Urban Job life, when disabled for working/
fulltime parent in the Sub-Urban part of town.
Even when going rural, troubles always sought me.
So seeking oblivian it became. Fulltime job.

Never got addicted to Benzo s or Opioid s lucky.
GHB/ GBL did, Baclofen seems a good WD tool.
Phenibut hates me, so wonder what does it do ?

Alcohol was the one that got me.

Fair question! I visited Ireland’s Aran Islands years ago and fell in love. Recently I saw the movie The Outrun (2024) featuring the Orkney Islands, and they won’t leave my mind.

I almost mentioned that I visited Inishmore in the Arans last spring and loved it. Incredible place! I can imagine the Orkneys being similar. I now have a yen to visit remote islands all over the world. I'd love to go to the Faroe Islands for example.
I definitely have to see Outrun. I remember reading about and wanting to see it. I'd also like to see "The Banshees of Inisherin" which was filmed in the Arans

I tried phenibut and found it unpleasant and useless, though I am aware their similarities and that Baclofen is used for phenibut w/d. Baclofen is subtle and not a huge game changer for me. But it does do some good things. I can sleep amazingly on 10 mg most of the time. When I first started it, taking 10 mg 3x/day, I felt markedly happier/less depressed, more relaxed, coping with day to day BS better. I feel like I got a mild dopamine effect. Need for klon went markedly down. But those effects seem to have died pretty quickly. 5 mg still helps with social anxiety though. 10 mg still helps a lot with sleep too, but it also makes me feel shitty and weird occasionally. It’s a miracle for some people I have read. So far, I think it’s good, but not a huge miracle,

This is wonderful to read! I dream of making it to the Faroe islands one day as well. I want to see The Banshees of Inisherin now too. DM me and we’ll watch it some night:) I hope you get to watch The Outrun sometime.

What the Oregano Vulgaris, Ireland is EU +.
But not a Shengen country, meaning relocating there will pose problems.

Can only receive my money in Shengen country s.
So to live there you have to find a job first, get a VISA/ VISUM.
Then housing, so a lot of Hussle to get away from the Mussel s.

And a mere dream as my kids not even adult s, at least will take em 10 years.

I stay here on this s[t]inking 🏝️.

The Orkneys are a part of Scotland, so not EU. I guess it's pretty difficult for EU people to move there since Brexit. But you are saying that even though you are an EU citizen, you can't easily move to the Arans/Ireland? Interesting
But it's irrelevant for me because I'm in the US and can't move to Europe at all. Maybe in a few years I'll be able to move to Greenland though (joke) . It's an island, so it fits my island criteria. Actually, I spent 3 weeks in Greenland 10 years back and enjoyed it.

Greenland my fatherland, its part of Denmark.
A EU and Shengen country,
except Greenland, which is neither ?

Makes you wonder why !

Welcome to BL

An old friend of mine's dad moved to Orkney in the 80's to get the hell away from people

I remember we visited him, only to be told that "getting awat from everyone" included his own family - so we had to camp in the garden! It was windy af.

Greenland is your fatherland? How so?
Off topic, but I read an absolutely amazing novel about Greenland, written by A Danish-Norwegian author. Blew me away. "The Prophets of Eternal Fjord" by Kim Leine
So Shengen is just an economic treaty status among some EU countries, not all? Why would it prevent you moving to Ireland?
