Greetings, all! My name is Moon, I am the newest member of the staff team on discord. I’ll admit I’ve been wary to use the forums here due to what I perceive to be irreconcilable differences in the cultures between the two wings of Bluelight. I’d like to challenge (heal) that rift and see it for myself. I’m transfem, an artist who specializes in photography and replication, and an avid gaymer. My DOC is ketamine and cannabis, although I’m working towards quitting the former as I have recognized it to be detrimental in my life of late. I firmly believe in Bluelight’s mission and it’s disheartening to me to think that we’ve lost sight of that mission in favor of petty squabbling and overly punitive responses to said disputes. If I haven’t made it abundantly clear yet, I can be rather blunt at times- don’t expect this to change but do let me know if I cause discomfort or cross any lines, the last thing I wish to do is cross any boundaries and end up working contrary to my intentions of fostering better and healthier communications between the forums and the discord. @moonsnull is my name on discord if you’d like to look me up there. Hello, and welcome. Yes, there is far too much hostility here and little sight of what I perceive as harm reduction in terms of focus.

In which subforum?

BL forums are the preeminent source of harm reduction knowledge from all of the internet in my opinion, but sometimes you need to use the search function to get answers, because the forums are not very active these days.

I wouldn't judge BL based on the interactions of what essentially boils down to just a few people. Some threads veer off topic more than they used to. The best of BL and the wealth of HR knowledge here needs to be looked up.

Using off site search with markup tends to work better than the in house search.

Bluelight holds steadfast to it's mission and that has not changed. The forums have been the same as they always were for the last 25 years.

I think it would be best for everyone to let sleeping dogs lie and to not bring up past drama. We have had very calm waters here for awhile now. Sometimes people just need to agree to disagree and move on. If different platforms cater to different people maybe that should be seen as a good thing.

Yes you’re absolutely right, that’s exactly what I’m going for!

I’m not certain- I mostly wanted to check out the forums for the opportunity to get more deeply involved. I’ll admit I’ve been a little afraid to engage and I see that I’ve already been called a slur so my fears weren’t completely unfounded. Still, I got thicker skin than that!

I don’t intend to bring up past drama that I’m sure I know nothing of, really. The last thing I wish to do is cause further problems or deepen the rift between the two platforms.

I’m definitely open to the notion that it’s a good thing that different crowds are attracted to the different branches of Bluelight. Still, what little I do know has my instincts telling me it’s not so clear cut, I’m excited to meet some of the regulars here and see how things go but I may indeed scurry back off to this discord if I sense I’m not quite welcome here.

I'm sorry your welcome thread has become somewhat derailed, but that tends to happen when controversial topics are brought up. That typically doesn't happen in this subforum.

As @Quasimoto said, things have been relatively calm lately and I don't see the need of bringing up past drama and mentioning "culture differences". Or "challenging" rifts. It could come off as condescending to some.

Since I don't want to risk this spiraling into more drama, I'm going to close this.
