Dr Yen presented her study findings on a call I was on today.

Key takeaways were that there is observable inflammation in white matter in the brains of people on daily methadone and chronic opioid users.

Inter-generational effects have been observed, especially but not limited to in vivo exposure.

Cognitive suppression is one of the outcomes of long term opioid exposure, including with MOUD.

This could be showing an actual link between opioids and intellectual suppressing effects that carry over the user's lifespan, but may also transfer to children born with regular exposure or even from a parent who at some point has been chronically exposed.

...

The cascade of effects here are so unreal and yet do very subtle...

How can one give informed consent? Weigh the risks or benefits of maintenance drugs?

We need to pressure practicing practices to have more goal oriented treatment protocols for those who don't want this to be a part of their lives.

Can you post some of Dr. Yen’s previous work? I’m interested in the background of this.

Unfortunately this is the first I've interfaced with her work, but it was an interesting discussion. I believe they will be sending out slides from the presentation we were given and if so I can forward along to you.

You can find other studies by her clicking through hyperlink on the ncbi page, but I imagine you're looking for more contextual fill in which I unfortunately can't provide at this time. Just wanted to get the information out here as I feel like it's important to start bringing this stuff into community awareness.

ETA: I requested a full-text of one of her studies that has a more thorough overview of the immediate and long-term effects of prenatal opioid exposure. I'll send along what I can find out.

What is her name/institution? I don’t think i have enough info to find her NCBI page.

Also if you have like even titles of papers it would be super helpful.

Opioids cause adrenal insufficiency (OIAI) via activation of opioid receptors in the hypothalamus and pituitary gland thereby suppression the feedback response of the HPGa.

I wonder how this would effect neonates. Nothing good, obviously.

A healthy animal has none. But the unhealthy gets a pill/ pipette or band.
With a illegal agri-culture pesticide. One which science has confirmed.
Not only changes your kids behaviour but also reproductivety later in life.

Last one migtht be good as the planet over crowded anyway.
And waiting til all the stupid 2 -nd world country s poisoned and killed them selves.
Will take to long, the pesticide use in India is crazy. The people doing are insane.

Poor baby s here Mothers are put on Methadon. Mostly so they stop Heroine/ IV-ing and dangers of streetlife.

But the babys get born adddicted to Methadon and very slowly tapered of.
