Mass Shooting and Gun Control Megathread

I was recalling that in grade school there hadn’t been any school shooting type shit since columbine, and that even when I was in college the only university shooting was Virginia tech aside from that guy at UT in the sixties…

Like what the fuck happened this past few years? It’s not “unfettered access to firearms” because that has been going on in the U.S. since its inception… no, this is something deeper. It’s either some scheme to disarm the populace or there is truly some deep, deep societal ill that has driven a chunk of humanity into absolute and total madness. Either way it scares me.

I don’t leave the house without a gun and I don’t go anywhere without looking over my shoulder at people I don’t know.

I think that you're implying that comorbid depression and the widespread nature of SSRIs isn't the reason that your conspiracy theorist looking graphic of the shooters with their medications exists. They were obviously unwell leading up to becoming the piece of shit monsters they became. Being obviously unwell almost certainly led to them being medicated. Trazodone is a serotonin antagonist by the way.

The source of the article that you led to by the way is obviously a conservative misinformation amplifier, just so you know. Check out their twitter to find blatantly transphobic shit, as well as tweets about how Obama was the "perfect trojan horse" to create "racial strife". Learn to suss out dumbassery before spreading misinformation on a harm reduction please, because you're unironically harm amplifying by spreading that. Learn to source peer reviewed academic literature, and hit us up with legitimate sources if you actually have a serious point to make some time buddy.

Edit: Looked around your profile a little bit and found you refer to somebody as "half gypsy" in a comment on this thread, I'm Romani, seeing you use racial slurs casually on this forum is pretty funny. Despite the use of racial slurs, it also seems like you allude to believing in the flat earth in a comment on this thread, which is pretty interesting. Does BL tolerate the use of racial slurs?

I'm not in the US, so the first one i heard about was the Georgia State University shooting in 1979 which inspired the song 'I don't like Mondays' by the Boomtown Rats.

As for "what the fuck has happened these past few years?", social media innit?

Sad bastards have easy access to other sad bastards who reinforce their twisted beliefs.

Unfettered access to firearms doesn't help though...

I don't care about their politics. I posted it mostly for the FDA video. Didn't notice he posted a Youtube link of it or I would've posted that

Yeah, seeing you refer to somebody as "half gypsy" in another thread in a hateful way doesn't make me view you as a very good person. I'm Romani, you were backing up somebody on the thread claiming that the majority of Romani people are criminals. I don't know why BL would tolerate blatant racism like that, but I'm going to ask around about if that's the norm here or not.

Maybe try and stay on topic in CEP and focus on mass shootings which is what the thread is about

Staying on topic in CEP almost certainly involves pointing out sources that have numerous red flags of being unreliable, we're here trying to understand something materially real and true, current events. Your use of racial slurs and attempt to write it off as insignificant is what's off topic, sorry it made you upset to point out.

We're all friends in the lounge and friends are allowed to talk shit. If you don't like that, you don't have to go there. And you don't have to go snooping through peoples' post history to try to discredit them, either. Not a good strategy anyway. It looks desperate.

Perhaps up your sense of humor to not offending random strangers, and you won't get misreads like this.

You offended someone who doesn't know you. That person made an assessment about your character, accurately so given the context, because of it.

Calling people 'half-gypsy' is a shitty thing to say, and it upsets people. It also is the kind of thing that IS a violation of the rules here, so watch yourself, sir.

If the post isn't in one of your forums, which it isn't, it really isn't your place to tell someone to "watch themselves". Also, as a mod, you should be trying to get the thread back on track... not continuing the pseudo controversy that you know very little about.

It isn't in my forum which is why I'm simply noting it out loud and directly (I think I have the liberty to do so, we aren't policing comments are we?) - it is, however, against the rules to make personal attacks. Calling someone (even as a joke) a half-gypsy WAS READ as such by someone who felt offended and happened to mention it. As a result, we are here discussing this now.

Let me sweep my side of the street and I'll let you sweep yours, how about that?

That's the point. It's not your side of the street. You are engaging in an argument that you don't even understand while further derailing a thread in a forum you're supposed to be moderating. The posts in question are outside your jurisdiction, you do not understand or know the parties involved, or the many other contextual nuances.

You are sewing further division and virtue signaling rather than just doing your job.

What do you not understand about the fact that you came into a derailed thread, and rather than deleting the off topic posts, you chose to weigh in on a subject you know nothing about... further derailing the thread? The mass shooting thread in CEP is not the place to do this. You're being defensive and telling me to kick rocks instead of accepting my legitimate criticism that comes from years of experience.
