Russo-Ukrainian War v. World War 3?

In fact, this is the UK. Where school children have to dress properly or they get reprimanded for it. Why should this cunt who gets paid handsomely get to bend the rules for himself while literally children are forced to all look identical in their ridiculous outfits?

Is it really too much to ask that our foreign secretary, who is pushing us closer to a wider conflict, could put on some proper shoes? Come on.

I'm comparing and contrasting Putin's invasion of Ukraine with how Russia went through eastern Europe into Germany during WW2. What Russia is doing now is not quite the blitzkrieg that it would be capable of unleashing, if it pulled out all stops. Russia could have easily reduced Kiev to dust and rubble months ago. The power imbalance in this conflict is severe. Short of the U.S. arriving with boots on the ground, Ukraine is no match for Russia. Ukraine hasn't got much of an airforce, with which to defend itself. Putin has not exploited that vulnerability as thoroughly as he could have.

Ukraine has suffered terribly. I understand it is small comfort to say that it could have been worse.

Putin is not one to intentionally humiliate himself. Short of dropping nukes, he is doing everything he can to win this war, he's blown up damns, bombed children's hospitals, schools and turned cities to dust. Russia may have an advantage, but its not as big as you might think. They have a demographics problem, they cant produce that much weapons, most of them are leftover from soviet times. And when the USSR swept into Germany, it was the US supplying them. Not the other way around.

Ukraine has a demographics problem too, but either way, its harder to mass troops than in was back in ww2. Both because there's less men and also because, its easier for those men to be spotted and there's lots of new spoiling measures that didn't exist back then.

Try demanding that he doesn't do the whole wider conflict thing before you worry about what he's got on his feet. Prioritize the problems that actually matter. Is this really such a difficult thing to understand? I can't believe you're really doubling down on this. This is why people you politically hate always get what they want, you know.

Maybe Putin should just give them the nukes they took from them back and go home.

.... Trump also suggested nuking a hurricane. Its kind of weird to quote Trump in this argument, particularly since he wants to cut off funding and let Russia win.

Although, according to international agreements, they do have the right to build nuclear arms again, as they previously already had them, and Russia violated their oath.

Will all the billions we've given that little coke snorting queen he should be able to buy a couple on the black market by now.

Personally, fuck him. Get around the table and hash out peace. I don't want an unstable country with an unstable leader being given nuclear materials. And for what? Russia could vapourize every square inch of Ukraine with the amount of nukes it has.

Yes, the US military industrial complex patrolling the seas is the reason why most aggressive countries stay in line and the reason the last 80 years have been one of the most peaceful periods in world history. Though yeah iraq was a major f-up. It even gave Putin more ammunition to justify this war. Bush that idiot. Not as stupid as the orange guy, but still pretty stupid.

Well, if you are a citizen from Africa, S America, SE Asia, Yugoslavia, Middle East and, basically, everywhere but what we call the West, I bet you would not find the last 80 years to be that peaceful

I don't think thats good for an economy long term.... especially when most of that money isn't going into investments, just into things that will soon explode.

Things are moving very fast when it comes to efforts to end the war in Ukraine. Unfortunately for Kyiv, it is not in the driving seat.

The news that the two leaders of the two most heavily armed nuclear nations - Russia and the US - have held a seemingly constructive and cordial 90-minute phone call is, at face value, a welcome step towards a more peaceful world.

Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin clearly have a good working relationship, in marked contrast to the previous occupant of the White House, Joe Biden.

So for now, the temperature has been lowered.

But this positive move may well come at Ukraine’s expense.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth laid it out in crystal clear terms where the US stands on peace for Ukraine, in words that will no doubt be welcomed by Moscow.

No US troops for Ukraine in any future security arrangement, no realistic possibility of returning to its pre-2014 borders (when Russia occupied and annexed Crimea and backed insurgents in the Donbas), and no likelihood of Ukraine joining Nato.

These were all clearly stated goals made by President Volodymyr Zelensky and his government - and they come on top of a dire situation on the battlefield where Russia’s superior numbers are enabling it to slowly push deeper into Ukrainian territory.

I didn't vote for Trump, but I believe he is sincere in wanting to end the loss of Ukrainian and Russian lives. During that verbal free-for-all in the Oval Office, which I watched at least three times, I found Trump to be the person making the most sense.

Biden said there is no price too high to pay for freedom. That's easy to say when you're not the one paying the price. Dead people are not free. Donald Trump is a very flawed man, but I thought he sounded like the adult in that room today.
