and that's also why the vast majority listen-- not for actual musical talent, but for superficial personality and image.

although, I'd say Lil Kim has substantially more credit than her modern derivatives such as Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B, Ice Nice, whatever the fuck, it's still the same cringey gimmick.

Was either 1996 or 7 when we had them. Once at some massive rave in an aircraft hanger, and once at a huge (well, 5000-ish people) freeparty in a beautiful spot in the welsh mountains

I remember at the rave, coming up strongly after double-dropping and coming up hanging onto a massive stone pillar for dear life while Jumping Jack Frost dropped these bangers - when the bass hit on the MASSIVE system you could fell yourself and another 10,000 other people's rushes at the same time trust me - after suviving the initial slightly terrifying rush the ecstatic feels hit and then it was game on all night...
