Coming from the guy who consistently laps up every piece of Quatari/Iranian/Hamas/terrorist propaganda, you have to know how meaningless your statement is.
This is the big problem I'm seeing. People who lap up American/Israeli-backed mainstream media, getting fed lies and thinking that other people who are reporting truth and facts are always parroting "enemy" propaganda. It's just funny that Westerners are so quick to side with, and believe, the countries who are the ones consistently violating international law.
To everyone posting in this thread: Does the law mean anything to you? Should countries follow it? Should they be held accountable and prosecuted for violating it? If you can't agree to this then you have no moral high ground. And if you do agree then you would see who is the biggest culprit at this point.
Option 3 is that, as harsh as it sounds, is that the price to be paid to remove Hamas is the lives of some of the civilians Hamas themselves put at risk. It's awful to say it, because yeah, it means women, children, babies are dying. If I were Israeli, I would pull the trigger myself. History tells us what happens when the Jews are unable to fight back. Antizionists start stoking the crematoria.
There is so much wrong with this. "Price to be paid to remove Hamas" while ignoring the obvious fact that every civilian killed recruits MORE Hamas members to the cause. Once you've got job, no food, no hope for the future AND your little sister/cousin has just had her limbs blown off and then dies because they ALSO bomb a hospital - then what else would that person do? They'd fight the aggressor. This is obvious. Everyone knows this. The Israeli government knows this but they still bomb thousands of innocent people with the justification that it's "destroying Hamas". It's obvious propaganda.
If the Israeli government was genuinely serious about peace, the settlements would be dismantled (and would never have been built in the first place). They're illegal under international law. If they consistently break international law then how can they lecture anyone else about doing the wrong thing?
I'm half-Israeli, ethnically Jewish. The Israeli state does not represent me or Jewish people. People need to stop conflating the two. The founders of Israel and the leaders of Israel are not religious, they are atheists. So they get away with war crimes by claiming it's for the protection of the "only Jewish state". As an actual Jew, the only fear I have of collective action against my people is
from the direct actions of the Israeli state, violating international law, terrorizing populations and murdering civilians. This time it's different. The entire world is watching and more people are waking up from the fog of Zionist propaganda daily (this was extremely difficult for me to wake up from and almost impossible for most Jews/Israelis and many westerners, as we can see in this thread).
The thing with your view though, my friend, and of many leftists, is that you keep complaining about Israel killing too many civilians- which I do partially agree with because even 1 is too many- but you were opposed to Israel even before the reprisals on Gaza. You're just shoehorning factoids into what is a emotional argument for you. So I don't really think you care about Palestinians inasmuch as you dislike the Jews because you're an antisem- sorry, antizionist.
"opposed to Israel" - which Israel? The original Israel approved the UN looks very different with smaller borders.
So are people against that or just against the seizure of more and more land?
PLEASE stop with the antisemitism/antizionist smears of people. It's so transparently pathetic at this point and is actually a desperate measure used by people suffering from cognitive dissonance. It is VERY difficult to morally defend thousands of babies getting their little bodies blown to pieces, so there MUST be some underlying jew/israeli hatred coming from the people who are arguing for the defense of innocent Palestinians. It's dishonest, its a distraction and it isn't based on truth.
