The presence of roaches in my home is worsening my addiction

Noooo, do not eat the bugs!

They have Chitin (a polymer) which causes inflammatory immune system responses when consumed by humans
Tell that to entire populations in Africa, Asia and South America that have included insects as part of their diet for centuries with no observable detriment to their health. Our ancestors most certainly also consumed insects, and so do other primates. Maybe SOME people have an adverse response to chitin, that doesn't justify such a blanket statement, especially not without a citation.

Have you tried traps or bait? Gels work too They take the bait to their nest and eat it. Thus killing them all. Put the bait where you see them most or all the corners of your house.
Yeah, I got some of those bait traps as well. So far, the foggers have worked the best, but I still keep the bait traps out for good measure. I noticed that scorpions and those large black stink beetles are immune to foggers somehow. I've killed at least a couple of scorpions and 1 giant stink beetle since we've fogged our place.

Wow! Can I ask where you live to be getting such a high influx of critters?

Also why not crush qurtz or other crystals and mix it with a bit of glue and sprinkle it on them. Ain't as attractive as real upper class roaches covered with various precious stones and a little leash but they still make a nice home decor.
True. Haha. And I love the look of precious stones. They're good for a lot of things, actually.

I had a relatable thread I posted about 10 years ago here about rats curing my addiction to poppy pods.

Damn that was a cool thread but it's lost in the purge I guess.

My takeaway is that being grossed out is a healthy reaction.

Be grossed out.

Feel the ICK.

It is good for you. It makes you understand what it is to be a classy human vs a trash human.

I never saw a roach until i moved to a city at 18. Not native to canada thankfully. My first apartment downtown toronto seemed nice but when i woke up to get water i turned on the light i almost had a heart attack. Couldn't get back to sleep and moved to a motel for a couple days to find another apartment.
I don't mind spiders but not roaches, i couldn't live where they were a native bug

Thing is, I'm a neat freak. I do laundry a few times a week and I deep clean on a weekly basis, so this is driving me insane. I live in the Texoma area and I'm hoping it's just the warm, humidity/rainy season that's bringing them in and nothing that I'm falling short on, because I've been keeping our new place clear of food waste and always clean up after myself (and my fiance). It's really fucking with my head and my willpower to resist taking more oxy, but after the sight of a cockroach I know that unless I want to lose sleep over it, it's my only option. People might say it's just an excuse to take more, but the thing is--I just want to be at peace so I can sleep through the cockroach anxiety. I have no idea why, but I'm terrified of bugs. I've tried fly swatters, Raid, and putting the AC on full-blast (not to mention I keep the house squeaky clean). I guess the next step is an exterminator, but I worry that it will be a waste of time and money. After all, I live on the outskirts of town where they thrive, so my guess is they aren't going anywhere. What's scary is I read somewhere that not 1 house in the world is 100% bug-free. Fucking yikes. I guess my question is: Can anyone relate or am I freaking out over nothing? Also, what the fuck do I do to handle this better? I don't wanna have to keep dipping into my stash every time I see one. This shit is expensive enough as it is.
If you are in the state of Texas, you listed a name that sounds like a Texas town, I have family in Texas and have spent time in Texas. They have the biggest toughest cockroaches I have ever killed. Sorry to hear that. If you live in a detached home, do they make a roach gaurd like they do for ants?
