APE was what I grew most of back in my cultivation days. They are definitely extremely potent, so be careful, of course. I will say that the caps naturally turn blue as they mature. It's just natural pigment; little to do with oxidation of actives, although slicing them open will show some bluing, IIRC.
Also, perhaps you already know this, but some of the stomach issues with mush are thought to be due to the chitin lining the cells. Chitin, which arthropod exoskeletons are largely comprised of, helps keep mushrooms strong enough to stand straight up and eject spores. Unfortunately, humans can't digest it. Anecdotal experience, but for me, chewing very thoroughly before swallowing has helped with stomach uncertainty during trips. Grinding to powder, making tea, or little juice cocktail shots has also helped.
