I spent time in Serbia and surrounding areas in mid 90s. I have seen the atrocities of "conflict" first hand.

I want a global community of peaceful and self sustaining citizenship... will this happen? Peace talks are not going to happen any time soon. Don't forget, Ukraine wants Crimea back, Russia (I think) wants a land bridge to Crimea. The 2 main aims of each side are incompatible. Don't forget - Putin doesn't even accept Ukraine IS a country, that it IS part of Russia and so the peoples of Ukraine have a strong motivation to keep fighting.
There ARE Neonazi groups in Ukraine, but no more than in almost every other nation on earth.
I think it's going to become an information war. Russia doesn't have a free press and so the only way the people know things are not going to plan is the number of funerals. The fact they are crowdfunding for even basic items for their armed forces which should also suggest something isn't right. I've learnt that one has to put in a lot of effort and find sourcedsthat have no reason to lie about a topic to get close to the facts but I imagine for the average Russian, it's an order of magnitude harder. At the moment Russia is trying to destroy or block Starlink internet access in Ukraine and it's a criminal offence to use it within Russia.
I read about Russia's invasion of Afghanistan and it was when public opinion went against the war that Gorbachev withdrew troops. Of course, he inherited the war as did Chernenko who inhereted it from Andropov who inherited it. In that war the Soviets lost 14,453 troops with 45,573 wounded. I looked at many estimates from decent sources (from nations not aligned with NATO or Russia) and it seems that Russia is getting close to that total.
This war really could go on for as long as Putin is in power.
In a drawn out war, Russia could simply flatten the whole of Ukraine but it would decimate their own military strength doing so. I mean, Russia is 28 times larger than Ukraine with a population over three times larger. It would also require them to bring back conscription and would result in a truly huge death toll on both sides. Russia has an unusual military doctrine, when an item becomes out-dated, it isn't scrapped. It's kept in storage and can be reactivated. I would not be surprised to see a lot more T-62 tanks in Ukraine. They are 60+ years old but it means that they can theoretically still fight tank battles.
But winter will arrive soon in Ukraine. Traditionally combatants don't begin any major actions but put their efforts into resupplying their forces, digging in and try to learn from the battles of the previous months. But Ukraine has shown it's adaptable. It's certainly well aware of Russian tactics (many seem unchanged since WW2 - I'm not saying it's wrong except it's predictable and so they may have decided on changing their own tactics.
I will conclude by noting that the West will, in the long term, profit from this war. All of the former Soviet states that still use Soviet/Russian materiel will have to replace it with kit from other nations. I don't just mean because some Russian assets have underperformed. NATO nations can hardly rely on getting spare parts off a nation that invaded their neighbour. A lot of kit is being used up and a lot was getting out of date. So the US is selling a lot of used stuff. From Abraham tanks to F16 jets and just about everything else.
