Film What's the last film you saw? v. Why doesn’t Peter Jackson wear shoes?

Last film I watched was an anime called "Mind Game". It's a great film more or less about regret and making the most out of life. I watched it while peaking on 4-Ho-Mipt and it was a great experience.

Gangs of New York: I'm a Scorcese fan but wasn't sure how well he would pull off a film set in the 19th century. I found it enjoyable. The characters were a bit more fantastical and less interesting than in his more contemporary crime dramas. The film is set in New York City during the Civil War and touches on some less-savoury political aspects of that time. Even though the Irish Catholic poor are the heroes of the movie, they are shown to be both victims and perpetrators of violent bigotry. Di Caprio was good as usual.

The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

I think this was probably his best Batman film. Nolan really had it down with this last one. Loved Tom Hardy as Bane.

8/10

Silence (2017)

Saw in the dollar cinema when it was in theaters, when dollar cinemas existed. Was good. I’m not religious but I enjoy the exploration of it. A bit too long winded though.

7.8/10

Atlantic City (1981)

Decent. I love Susan Sarandon and this was a decent output from her. I know nothing of New Jersey but enjoyed the film. Not great but watchable.

6.5/10

Nope

I thought it worth the watch.
I loved this movie. It was unique and refreshing. I typically do not like horror movies because they all feel cliche as hell and repeat the same tropes over and over, but Nope was quite unique.

I almost don't even want to call it a horror movie even though that's certainly what it is. It's deep, almost abstract, and psychological. Very modern in nature.

solid 4/5, was very entertaining overall.

I'd say more of a slipshod sci-fi flick (never felt any horror element), but definitely one of the better summer blockbusters this year. Only film I saw all year where the audience was packed in tight yet quiet the whole film.

@Cream Gravy? yeah it was certainly genre blending in a way to me

I'm fairly excited for Jordan Peele, I think he's a comic genius, and comedy often coincides with great intelligence and talent. I haven't seen his previous films, but I expect some greatness from him in the future.

Last night, the night before I started my binge, i saw a swedish cult movie, it was the movie on which that other movie is based, title escapes me but if I tell the storyline you probably would think Im talking about that american remake, I think called 'shrooms'...

Its about a group of friends visiting a remote location to eat shrooms, but they end up having very dark trips and some get brutally killed...
