Note: I am talking about Nicotine itself. Nicotine itself is not bad for you.

I know there are benefits when it comes to things like Alzheimer's, but does anyone find it helps with depression or anxiety or anything else too?

Nicotine is neuroprotective, there is also a bit of research suggesting it could be beneficial in the treatment of Parkinson's and, as you mentioned, Alzheimer's. I've also heard a bit about it being slightly effective in weight loss. I don't use nicotine often, but I do enjoy using it on occasion as a stimulant when trying to finish certain tasks. Can't really commend to it's use in depression/anxiety though, am curious to find out.

All about the nicotine pouches if you want the hit of nicotine without the shit in tobacco. I got into snus when I was living in Norway, but that does have some tobacco in, but you can now buy nicotine pouches with tobacco in all over Europe and the US.

Wonder what people's opinion is on vape pens?

Vape pens are full of crap. There is no way that all of the shit in consumer products isn’t terrible for you. I’d love to be proved wrong, but… I dunno.

Doesn’t seem like something could be good for you without a downside. Know what I mean?

Yeah for sure, I predict in 10 years or less we’ll find out how bad they really are for you.

My girlfriend got a vape pen for a while and it was an import from China.

Ended up with bronchitis about a week after using that liquid.

May have been a coincidence but who knows.

After moving to nicotine pouches for so many years though it literally makes me feel sick about smoking a cigarette.

I've tried different forms to applicate nicotine. Cigarettes, vaping, snus, gums. Out of all I liked snus the most, probably due to the harmala alkaloids which are contained in tobacco, and pure nicotine brought me nothing than a verry short lived buzz and some equally short lived motivation and energy, Was ever curious about how vaping harmalines would be but so far didn't make it to brew my own vaping liquid. I've got some peganum harmala seeds and decided to try them on their own but I guess I make something wrong by just ingesting them, no effects at all. Need to extract.

I LOVE smoking. Menthol cigarettes are such a fucking treat. They calm me down, kill my appetite, and taste SO good with a cup of coffee. I smoke a pack a day, and it's fucking expensive but oh well.

Oh yeah, cigarettes are nice until you realize the damage they do on your body, imo more than most psychoactive substances. But I loved mentol cigs as well! Was also smoking around one pack a day, which summed up to quite some research chemicals I could have bought with the same bucks. Never got appetite suppression nor an increase after quitting, and quitting wasn't too hard for me, just cravings for 1-2 weeks or so, and occasional cravings when seeing/smelling somebody else smoking. I actually like the smell of (fresh, old is ugly) tobacco smoke.

OT but for people who want to quit the nACh7 antagonists (DXM, bupropion, memantine) indeed do the trick. They block all effects from smoking.

Dxm blocks the effects of smoking?

As in the nicotine ‘high’? How small a dose could you take each day? 15mg? Could be my way out of nicotine finally.

Yeah, nACh7 antagonists basically block any effect from nicotine even when they antagonize just one of the bunch of nicotinic receptors. But I might have been wrong about DXM, I just remembered that it hits this receptor as well but now as you're asking I've revisited its Wikipedia pharmacology page. I guess 15mg would be far too less, but it can't hurt to try it. But one thing is that dissociatives on their own do greatly potentiate the nicotine high and it all depends on the affinities and your genetics. The other two, bupropion which is used medically to aid with cessation of smoking, and memantine which I've tried extensively myself, are more reliable. 20mg (probably less) of memantine are enough to block nicotine.

If you decide to give DXM a try nevertheless, please report about your experience! :)

I read a study that vaping helps anxiety in a way because the process of holding a vape, puffing on it is therapeutic, also apparently sweet flavoured ones are soothing, obviously low mg dose, I'm on 0.3mg any higher causes anxiety, it was a long time ago I read this study though, I've cut down on my vape as it was always right next to me I was puffing it almost constantly, I now turn it off and put it away between usage and don't use it hours before bed

I want to quit, but I'm tapering valium and as someone mentioned above nicotine releases dopamine etc, so I'm worried stopping vaping will make my taper worse sudden drop in dopamine etc along side the valium taper doesn't sound wise

I've always had a horrible habit of taking it to bed with me (or my nicotine pouches) with me and just waking up periodically throughout the night and using it. Has been really damaging to my sleep patterns.

I was doing that with disposable vape pens called elf bars I got into for a while as they tasted so nice, I order my vape juice off ebay as my favourite flavour is discontinued you can only buy it in shops as a nic salt 5mg, not the normal juice

I bought an elf bar after seeing them at the vape shop and asking what they are, as I'd ran out of juice and had to wait for it to be delivered, the elf bar was so nice I bought 4 different flavours over 2 days lol, then I kept buying them, but they are 20mg so I could only have 4 little puffs anymore and I'd be jittery and wired as was used to 0.3mg lol, but at the time the valium I was buying for sleep was underdosed shite so I kept waking up, and puffing on the pens and obviously making the insomnia worse, I'm not sure why the strength of them elf bars is only available at 20mg, even the vape shop said its stupid as loads of customers want them in a lower dose, they only lasted a few days though and I wasn't even puffing them much, I'm almost drooling remembering the flavours now lol

Wtaf, that must be dangerous, I worry it would blow up, what do you fill them with normal vape juice, why, why not use a normal vape? and oooh look at it, it looks so cool, it's a different shape to the elf bars I had, mine was little skinny pens, I think I've seen people in the street with those little square vapes, thought they're a different make, maybe they are what you have, oh no I need to control myself now not to go to the vape shop tomorrow to see if they sell them lol
