What does the USA do better than other countries?

Americans are not Europeans

America has never been an ethnolinguistic state and never will be (despite the wishes of some far right extremists). Many European countries still are

I have 4 “best friends” here. Two of the four do not have any European ancestry. They are still Americans. We have quite a bit of racial and ethnic diversity here, believe it or not.

And don’t get me wrong, we have our own social problems that need to be addressed

But lumping us in as a essentially a failed European state doesn’t really speak to the problems we have. They are quite unique to this country, and the European societal model is not easily applied here imo

Moving onto the war question…

The US absolutely does fight unjust wars, typically in middle eastern countries. But the difference is that your average American probably recognizes that this is senseless violence. Europeans would rather deny that they even commit any violence

I’m not trying to say that America is peaceful or just in its actions. I’m extremely critical of the American political machine.

I’m just saying that Europe does the same shit, and violence (in general) is not a uniquely American phenomenon.
Wut?

Kind of hard core to just assume Europeans wouldn't say anything against war, have you seen what happened in France when they attacked Lybia?

Euro population is pretty much entirely against war, and half your population, the so-called republicans, seem to be entirely pro-war.

In fact many here are even condemning "helping" the Ukraine fight against Russia cuz it leads to even more deaths. EU is tired of war

Your country started out in Europe, you carry European ideals in your constitution and laws. We have lots of immigrants too that are now Europeans. Ofc you're European.

Lol, also someone seems to think Europeans are all fair skinned and blonde and that we don't have massive immigration😅

That’s a fair point, I’m unfairly generalizing

The point I was trying to make is that most of the Europeans I’ve met see their continent as the pinnacle of human civilization or something along those lines.

I think that’s simply not true. I was trying to say that Europeans tend to see less fault in themselves than Americans do. But I will admit I’m making that judgment based off the Europeans I’ve met irl, and it’s probably not fair to generalize that to everyone.

But I still don’t agree that Americans are Europeans.

By your logic, is India also European since they still retain a democratic parliamentary system of governance left over from the British ?

And yes, the fair skin thing is kind of what makes you guys a continent tbh. There isn’t really any geographical reason to divide Eurasia into Europe and Asia. The only real difference is that Europe has white people. Thus it’s reasonable to classify someone as “European” based on their race imo

Not the pinnacle, but we're the cradle of western civilization, that is undeniable fact.

If India would also have been invaded by Europe like the Americas, with millions of people relocating there, with the natives killed or living in resorts, i would say yes.

The question is "who is in charge?" "who wrote the declaration of independence?" "who named the cities and states?" "who created your political system?" and of course "who is treated better by the law?"

You're obviously European. Because what else are you? Are you trying to tell me you are native Americans? The land is not even yours to begin with. It was acquired by genocide, this too is fact.

So what are you then if not European? You might say multinational but is that true? Aren't we as well? But i call an immigrant with a German pass a German/European and so would the law. Is European a race? It is not, it's a culture, and it's yours as well. What i mean is: where did your culture originate? And if you're adjusting to the culture aren't you part of it?

And no the reason for the separation is not racism ffs who do you think we are 😅 it's because the Greeks named it Erebos, darkness, as they thought it was the land where the sun sets, and Asía is the Greek word for the assyrian term assu, which means sunrise.

The reason is that from Greek perspective it looked like 2 continents

Also: dude not all Europeans are white, that's kinda racist. Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal, France, we're not all Vikings

And we have lots of different nations backgrounds and cultures, and yes different hair eye and skin colours

We earned the right to call ourselves American, not European Americans, when we kicked Brittans ass in the war, everything els is semantics, case closed

yeah cuz Britain is obviously the ruler of the world and not some shitty little island

I'd discuss it with the native Americans if you owned that right

The partition of India alone killed hundreds of thousands (maybe millions) of people.

Add in the scramble for Africa and that’s a lot more deaths too.

I think both Europeans and North Americans colonizers have done their fair share of killing. It’s not a uniquely American phenomenon

And I’m not at all trying to say that modern Americans are indigenous. We’ve done a lot of bad things here, and killed off much of our indigenous population. I’m not trying to defend the actions of America.

But the circumstances that created our country are vastly different than the circumstances European countries formed in. I just don’t think it’s accurate to equate the US to a European country

And actually the French Revolution and it’s focus on natural rights and democracy was largely inspired by the American Revolution. With your logic, one could actually consider modern European governance to be derived from the American system…

I’m not saying that’s the case, but the logic runs both ways

With respect to continents…

True, it started with the Greeks. But the Greeks also believed that the solar system was geocentric and not heliocentric… Does that mean we still keep that false idea around?

We can update our reasoning for geographical divisions as we gain more knowledge. The ancient Greek model is obviously not relevant in the 21st century and imo the only thing that still keeps it around is a white centric view of geography

No it means that most of our culture and language derived from the Greeks and later the Romans. Another clue that you are European. Then stop using so much Greek and Latin and German in your language if you're not of European origin. Stop making European dishes for every meal. Stop using the Imperial system because it shows how British you are. Stop using British colors for a flag. And while you're at it stop being Christians, it shows the European influence. There's literally countless examples

Jesus fuck, take whatever approach you want on it. Do you think I like having to call Americans European? Ofc not! You are the absolute worst, no offense, i mean as a nation. Like the worst, ask anyone from any other country. But it is fact that you are of European origin, no matter how much you want to pretend that life didn't exist before 1776.

Are you taking the French Revolution as your accomplishment now too? Who the hell writes your history books?! Inspired by the fact that France helped you thankless fucks win the revolutionary war and was bancrupt after the fact.

You made a bold claim when you said that “Americans are Europeans”. And I think I have every right to refute that claim. I don’t think I’ve been hostile or attacked you during this debate.

I think we’ll just have to agree to disagree

You resorting to calling us “the absolute worst” and “thankless fucks” probably isn’t doing your argument any favors btw. Just sayin

You're not very popular around the world, i was just being honest.

I told you you can handle it however you want. While accepting the truth is hard, diving into delusion is always an option.

I don't know where the insult thing comes from, i probably insulted you or something. I never know. If so, im sorry, im autistic.

People are such whiny bitches these days 😂 what's so bad about being European? Also it's the truth, you're certainly not American, even if you stole their land

Americans are good at being online, forums, Twitter, other social media...
Unless you're going local it's all Americans and some UK dudes!

See like.. Italians or the Swiss, where the fuck are they?
