Frumious Bandersnatch
Maybe they realized at that point they didn't have the manpower to stop them and just let it happen? But a member of the US House of Representatives, AOC, stated that the Capitol Police were holding the doors open and letting "insurrectionists" in. That's not breaking and entering, is it?
She has gone on record asking for an investigation of why the Capital Police did this, claiming that it was an "inside job".
I honestly don't know what to think anymore.
One example of them opening doors after hundreds of examples of people breaking barriers, pushing past cops/assaulting them, breaking windows and climbing in, scaling the building, etc etc
What if we just remove the political aspect completely and imagine it as a Walmart and a bunch of angry Walmart customers breaking in because they're angry about a new flavor of Doritos? Would there be any doubt as to right/wrong of that situation?
