Mass Shooting and Gun Control Megathread

Let’s just utterly scrap the love it or leave it manipulative thinking.. non of us need to leave our homeland because we agree or disagree with current policy or policy changes.. if people believe this then they should hit the road.
Well then dont try to take guns rights away, that’s one of the great parts of being American

Well no.. how in the fuck could you even round up the guns in the US.. that shits not going to happen. So I guess we are faced with actually solving the issues that make guns dangerous to others .. does that include national issues that lead to the insanity called war. Or is that just ok. How about if the US used all the money it puts into its military into advancing humanity for one year.

Im all for solving the problem unless the solution is a gun ban , I really don’t think that will stop people wanting to do wrong getting their hands on one, not in this day n age atleast

There would have to be a major tax incentive or direct payment. But that would only work if they criminalized the sale and manufacturing as well.

And all of that would likely only happen if there were super liberal justices on the Supreme Court, because that is where they would decide whether such a ban is constitutional.

The other route, repealing the second amendment and all that... just forget it. There could be a meteor the size of Antarctica on its way to Earth and even then we wouldn't get that many people to work together.

Iv always said I’m all for sensible solutions, but ban guns isn’t sensible, all that does is take guns from the law abiding citizens…maybe social media needs to be incorporated into background checks, that seems like a modern sensible solution , or part of a solution at least

i hear what you're saying

but it's no different than jihadists give muslims a bad name

or the mafia gives italians a bad name

or pedophile priests give the catholic church a bad name

but seriously - you're mentally ill if you wanna shoot up a school full of elementary kids

and there's some violent mentally ill people - maybe it's only 2% but that's no different than the examples i just gave of the italians, priests, etc.
I agree with all of your post but the bolded part. I guess that would depend on how one defines "mental illness." It's like saying you have to be muslim to be a jijadist. Or you have to be Italian to be in a mafia. Or you have to be catholic to be a pedophile. And believe me, I'm not defending school shooters.

One thing I used to hear a lot was people confusing bipolar disorder with multiple personality disorder. Like they thought "bi"-polar meant someone had 2 personalities. The word ignorant has a lot of baggage, maybe uneducated? My point is that if someone is to make a sweeping generalization that all school shooters are mentally ill, then I'd like to know their definition of mental illness, criteria, and diagnosis of every single school shooter. See my statement on bullied and ugly people from my quote you posted.

Not even I enjoy everyone's comments. Learning about all those innocent children were murdered (again) was kind of tramautic, my wife's a teacher's assistant at a k-8 school so it hit kind of close to home I guess.
I understand. I used to teach as well.

It hasn’t changed my stance though personally, I guess people don’t change sometimes.

I think there should be armed security at schools tbh, I know I would feel better if there was a couple armed security guards at my nieces school

I don’t determine salary, but I would feel better with someone at the school armed in case of a situation like this, or even teachers being able to have a gun in a bolted down lock box
I don't really have an argument against that idea. Probably a decent first step.

I just think this country is so backwards on a lot of issues.

Judging based on a few stories I've read in the last couple weeks, we're likely headed for a massive teacher shortage mostly due to the abysmally low pay they get for working a job that requires a college degree and is so important to our society.

I remember when they were trying to legalize MJ and one of the big selling points was that most of the tax money would go into the school system, we have the second worst in the country, and teachers were suppose to get raises, but funny enough after the bill passed it’s like none of that tax money has made it to the school system

Solid thoughts.. but then would I be banned because I actively participate on a drug harm reduction forum.. I mean DRUGS.. good golly miss molly.

If they could come up with clear warning signs from past mast murders.. then maybe.

I’m still for trying to fix the problems our societies face. Even if it doesn’t cure the situation completely, we end up with healthier lives.

I don’t think a drug charge will disqualify you if it’s not a felony, but when buying you are asked if you take drugs and if you answer yes will be denied
