Mental Health Absolute Nightmare Troll on Old Unmoderated Anxiety Forum

Hi Everybody,

I have a problem and don't know what to do. I was on this anxiety forum for a long time.. The admin jumped ship so it's now completely unmoderated. I made some good friends there and a few of us have kept going there just to catch up or just vent in threads we created.

For the last week or so this guy has been there (following a member he has some serious issue with). This guy's a real nasty piece of work and is doing his best to completely wreck the place. I can show people examples in private. I've been online since 1997 and never seen anyone this bad. He's the kind of person who trolls memorial pages on Facebook or wherever.

I'm wondering if there are any ways we can get rid of him or even contact some authority. I know we can just leave him to it, but it's upsetting and he's so disgusting it'd be very satisfying to do something other than just retreat.

Are there any computer geeks here who would be willing to help? Or anyone that knows how to deal with a very malicious troll?

Has he made any actual threats to anyone on the forum? Is he like, harassing, bullying or stalking anyone? If so, you can go to the police and at least make a statement, and see what they recommend doing. The police should have a cybercrime unit who will deal with it. If this guy is making anyone feel unsafe in their real life, the police should take it very seriously.

I would highly recommend you all avoid that forum now as well, as it's no longer a safe place. It's a shame but you've gotta keep yourselves safe.

He's got it in for one guy (who was pretty quiet on that forum) but that guy's in Scotland. The troll is in Perth (and I'm in Melbourne). Something personal must have gone on between these two because it seems to have been going on for ages.

He's definitely harassing, bullying, stalking this Scottish guy.. He wants *me* to go to police but I'm applying for an IVO on some guy and that's more than enough dealings with the police for now.

I spoke to my main friend there just before and we made a deal not to interact with the guy. We can't resist feeding the troll, but it's out of control and a bit sickening.

I went to their site but can't post on the forum without buying the stuff.

It's a bizarre situation. Like the Wild West of forums and we never really had a problem until now. It's basically dead though and just swarming with bots.

It'd be awful if someone new actually joined, seeking help and that guy was the only one there 😕

Thanks and yeah, you're right. This person is completely toxic. My friend who is the main reason I even go there just joined this place heh, and we talk on Messenger. So it's just our boredom and morbid fascination.
 
I would recommend creating a server on discord (it's free and very easy if you haven't done it before) and posting on the forum to invite others to use it instead. That way you and other trusted members would have administrative control and you can ban trolls from the server.

The best revenge on these kinds of people is to make it boring for them. If there's nobody to troll and he can't get into the group (or if he does sneak in, he's discovered and thrown out after any bad behaviour) then he loses. You could set up an approval process as newbies join the server to have some more control over who can join certain channels as well.

Omg ! That sounds really terrible. And is. Just terrible.

I wondered what S&T is an acronym for. science & tech ? H&R harm and reduction.

But that site just sounds really creepy though.

It was never creepy until this guy arrived. We had the usual fights and dramas (with no admin to intervene) but got over it and laughed about it later. This guy is a different kettle of fish. Like I say, in 20+ years online I've never encountered someone like this. He really is the type of person I can imagine doing that really sick trolling you hear about. And it is for attention. We ignored him the other day and he went berserk.

He finally disappeared and I looked at his Twitter that afternoon. He'd made a couple of posts about starting some new game. I wanted to troll him so bad at that point but resisted. It was after that I started the thread here about it.
