Funny you should mention this. Funny because I was thinking along these lines just yesterday after my anti-American post earlier yesterday. But I thought I'd wait and see if any Americans tried to rip me a new one before posting again yesterday.
In a crass attempt to not totally alienate myself from the American members here (which I assume are many in number). I was going to post the below yesterday and which is an odd post coming from me let's be honest:
If anything America should become more self-serving and more inward-looking. In the case of this little Ukraine debacle should say to Zelensky "fine we'll cover your ass but what tangible benefits are there in it for us". Minerals and resources? No thanks. We got our own. You're gonna have to do better than that. Security for America? Nah. We secure baby. As one of the good professors that specializes in this particular topic noted: America due to its sheer size and proximity to its perceived enemies is pretty secure. No foreign power is going to plonk a few hundred thousand troops into troop carriers and send them across the oceans to the beaches i.e. it would be too costly and not to mention fraught with the possibilities of failure and too many unknowns. In other words some type of WWII invasion not going to happen and not possible.
Trump for all of his shortcomings and child like behavior didn't go out of his way to alienate every global leader on the planet or piss them off (although his "China Virus" comments didn't exactly endear him to the CCP neither did his candid references to "Rocket Man" endear him to North Korea). And insofar as NATO is concerned I think he was on the button. I wonder how much this little NATO exercise is going to cost America? And if the only thing on offer is security and having a few mates dotted around Europe: sorry not good enough. Those mates collectively, and without America and NATO, are no match for America's perceived enemies i.e. Russia and China. So all this shit not going to be of any tangible benefit to America. And when Trump had meetings with global leaders he didn't leave them frothing at the mouth and shaking uncontrollably in sheer anger and frustration. Anybody taken note of President Putin's demeanor before, during, and after these little chinwags with Biden? IF he's listening at all he looks decidedly bored most of the time and that while he's not staring at the ceiling and looking around at the studio or camera crew and equipment!
Anyway: maybe some type of deals have already been made and we just don't know about them (YET).
So there's my tight rope walk for the day. It's a finely honed skill. What can I say?
Unlike my usual style I just came out guns blazing above without checking facts. Dunno if Manganese is the prize or payoff. The below from good 'ol Wikipedia but unfortunately dated (2015):
In just looking at this list there's no way of getting at it without pissing on Russia and China's batteries (no pun intended). Maybe Australia will be happy to hand over the goodies with little to no shit.
Unfortunately: quality counts. Russia's Manganese ore isn't top notch. I've not checked those on on the list for quality or viability.
