Recovery Sobriety Milestone Gifts?

I’m curious if anyone out there does something similar to myself. So I set goals for my sobriety where I tel myself if I stay clean this long I’ll buy myself a new pair of shoes (I’m kind of a sneaker head) or something else, my last gift I got for myself around 6 months was some airpod pros. I don’t keep track of my actual sobriety date, but I know the day after I moved to Missouri I ran out of the H I brought with me here so I know months easily, and could even figure out the exact day if I really wanted to too I suppose. Anyways I’m coming up on 7 months, and I plan for my next gift to myself to be a pair of the Air Jordan 1s “Rookie of the Year” shoes. And I was just hoping that I could see if anyone does anything similar to me. Thanks for reading!!! 😃
 
Good for you on gifting yourself and congrats on your clean time.

I don't gift myself, per se, but what is great now is when I need or want something I can afford to buy it for myself ( or others ) as all my money isn't going for drugs now. So yeah, it is a gift to myself.

Rock on with your new " sneaks " . :peperave:

Thank you!! And yes that is a amazing feeling for sure when you’re able to actually afford to buy, or do the random little things that you want to do, when before in active addiction I could barely afford to put gas in my car to get to work and the dope man each day.

Amen to that Brother. Same here. barely made my bills and some months didn't even do that. Damn...I am sooooo glad those days are over. :cheer:

Me too, although I’ve been in a sort of a rough patch the last few weeks, I’m lucky I moved out of town otherwise I’m fairly certain I would have relapsed yesterday had I not moved 12 hours away from everyone I used to use with.

Sorry about the rough patch. All people in recovery have them , that's for sure. Being away from your past use is a plus and helps a lot. Makes it harder to fall back into our old habits. I had to divorce myself from people, places and things that triggered me. Sometimes it's the only way. :Mario party:

Exactly, I’ll admit I spent a good chunk of the day yesterday driving around looking for a homeless person, or someone that was obviously a user to ask to cop for me. Luckily for me I didn’t see anyone, I know moving doesn’t completely fix being an addict, because if I really wanted to I could find it. But luckily not knowing someone and having to drive around and ask random people and hope they don’t just run off with my money will give me enough time to think about stuff and come to my senses hopefully.

Yeah, the thought of getting ripped off sucks and asking a random stranger is too risky. Do you take anything at all for the heebie jeebies when you get them? Kratom ? Weed ? Alcohol? Totally abstinent?
 
I have kratom but I don’t feel it no matter the dose I take since I’m on methadone. I drink once in a blue moon, and actually at thinking about giving delta 8 a try at least until I can afford to go get my medical MJ card, and I plan to pay the $100 to grow my own for personal use as well.

Gotcha. No, kratom is worthless when you are on the 'done. Stay strong. It gets better. Cravings will ease up as more time passes.

I’ve been having a rough week or two, and yesterday was a much more particularly rough day then any other I’ve had in this 6 months of sobriety. Although I did try to relapse I wasn’t able to so I managed to get through it, I’m glad I had that lapse in judgment during the day because I know if it was night time and I went to one gas station that has slot machines in it there’s always at least a few people that are clearly addicts and they sit there all hours of the night on those machines I’m sure I could have easily scored through one of them.

I used to abide by this principle (thread topic) back in the day. After a week (milestone) of sobriety and abstinence I'd gift myself more Cocaine! :ROFLMAO: Inevitably "over-gift" upon reaching each milestone of course but so it went!

Yeah the shits crazy! Lol It’s just a bunch of homeless meth head people in their twenties and thirties with nowhere to go except a gas station that stays open all night! Oh well whatever floats their boat!

The thing all the tweakers do back up north is go to bars and play slot machines, until like 2-230AMish when they close and kick everyone out. I’d never seen a slot machine not in either a casino, or a bar before though lol.

Yeah they stay open all night down here, we’ll some of them do. Meth has taken over in Kentucky!!
