i always find it curious when people say they admire trump as a speaker. i find his political speeches laughably bad. he's vague, he lies and lies and lies. he repeats himself childishly. he has no cadence or poetry. he overreaches and contradicts himself.

and before you put this down to bias partisan bias, there are plenty of republican presidents with whom i disagree politically but can still admire them as a speaker e.g. eisenhower and reagan.

I respect your own opinion ofc, but likewise it puzzles me.

Because I just don’t see the same thing. And it’s surely fair to say that neither of us are simply unintellectual in any way.

But we see so differently.

You have surely watched, observed and seen far more of Trump over time than I.

I am a very good speaker, since always, in a very fluid and imaginative, quick think, naturally witty way socially.

And I still see something in how Trump conducts himself verbally which I respect and admire. It’s the total lack of both hesitation and fear and supreme self confidence I like I guess, and he brings humour in with serious hot topic too.

Hence again why it puzzles me.

it's just crazy - we had Obama, who i thought was one of the most well-spoken president's ever, to 2 of the most noncomprehending president's ever
I agree with you there. Regardless of peoples views on him as a President, as a man he had a well spoken manner with concise wording and he got the point across in a tone of voice that was very pleasant. And his smile can light up a room. That half cocky smile when asked a question he didn't want to answer was nice too. Made him real and not another talking head.

Agree with the Reagan comment.

There she is. How's that lemon gelato holding out ?

Let's keep the gelato discussion in the gelato thread please.
Just checking this….is it okay to talk about Biden, in the Tr thread and vice versa?

Or do we need a Trump and Biden thread for that?

We could even call it Laurel and Hardy.

Hope you’re coping Birdie anyway. I see how I’ve been an infuriating one to you and others here.

I’ll try step back. @cduggles is moderating this thread perfectly fairly and overly tolerant out of just not wanting to be a killjoy too, credit to her for that.

And you say gelato. A weed strain I know. Is it an ice cream too? If so. You got that one wrong, Bid…likes Choccy chip, not even mint.😉

so a good friend, who was last at my house about a month ago, tested positive a couple days....he's got no shots....he said it was really mild - and even his wife said he's usually pretty wimpy when he gets sick....he said he did everything he needed to do and really didn't think much of it until somebody at work tested positive and then he got tested....and then we counted how many ppl between work and his friends and it was about 15 ppl, and they all said it was really mild, except for the one dude at work who calls in sick all the time lol but he's supposedly fine now - nobody in the hospital or anything along those lines.....

Tucker Carlson yesterday on the CDC’s own stats and admission that lots of people catching and transmitting Covid are vaxxed.

Ah, ye olde Fucker Carlson...

Most people don't get it serious, no one was ever claiming (or not me anyway) that it results in serious illness for a large percentage of the population. But it has killed tens of millions worldwide and resulted in severe sickness and long covid for many others. I was never very worried about myself, for me it was a moderately bad flu essentially, without the digestive issues and nausea, and with much worse body aches. I just don't want to give it to someone who gets really sick or dies because of it. Also if possible I would like to avoid getting it again, or if I get it, for it to just be like a cold or even less severe than that, because it did suck.

The death rate on this virus is really low, I’m not a gambler anymore but I like my odds…that and the fact we’re pretty much still in vax trial right now I’ll wait it out and see how it plays out for the vaxed…I recently watched a video of some virologist claiming that in the animal trials they gave the vax to a certain percentage of rats the unvaxed rats had a death rate you would expect from COVID and the vaxed rats had a 100%(I think) survival rate, however after a certain amount of time, whatever translates from 2 human years to rat years, after this time 100% of the rats died..might just be bullshit but still I’ll wait it out a couple years before getting the vax

It's bullshit, you can know because not enough time has gone by since the pandemic started, let alone since there was a vaccine to trial on rats, for 2 years to go by post-vaccination.

Tons and tons of misinformation and outright propaganda/lies out there
Well 2 human years, I think that’s 2 month in rat years ? Something like that, still I’m iffy about the vax, I’m not anti vax I think it a great thing, just maybe made public a little early, it’s not even FDA approved

im not downplaying it and im not saying you might die, just reporting what's going on with the people around me
