Megathread Cultural Appropriation and Cancel Culture Discussion

I don't think that it was a psy-op. The only evidence I can see that points even vaguely in that direction was the shockingly low number of police at the Capitol building, despite having ample forewarning prior to January 6th that the event was going down. Other than that, I think it's clear that the large majority of people there will willing and active participants and NOT plants, agent provocateurs, however you want to refer to them.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if there was some kind of counter-intelligence effort involved re: people at the Capitol, in fact I'd go as far as to say that there's a high likelihood of that. In the famous cases of counter-intelligence or "psy-ops", like what happened with the American Indian Movement on Pine Ridge or the black power movement (Black Panthers and USO feud, etc.), the government usually didn't fabricate events out of whole cloth but rather used the momentum of such movements against them, by encouraging the worst impulses of the participants...the United States government has become very skilled at this and it's something you'd would've expected people obsessed with the "deep state" to know. Counter-intelligence measures may have been what happened at the Capitol, I don't know, but the entire process of something being "controversialized" depends on the willing, active and "good faith" participation of the activists in question, despite the fact that they may have been led there by agents of the state through various subtle ways. That's why I'm uncomfortable with this notion of just saying "oh they were all just a bunch of patsies for a government psyop", it totally negates a crucial element in the state's plan (if such a plan even existed) and negates these people's individual human agency

As far as a motivation regarding the authorities being afraid of having the "stop the steal" issue get relitigated, I just don't believe that for a second

w01fg4ng's post - that you quoted - was about the jan 6th rioters specifically.

you said that you didn't exclude yourself from his description of them which implied you were there...

i'm not really sure what your comment means outwith that context.

You’re bang on. I gathered immediately that from your initial reply to me.

Actually,I was just struck to look up your rival Jgrimez to see if he was still around, led me there, on to Wolfie’s post.

I just wouldn’t be surprised to hear people speaking in that manner about humanity on general, on the whole. So I took it that way.

Now, I still consider them to have been largely staged Antifa, with some genuine Trump supporters sneaking along like opportunists.

But that without the concerted, deliberate plot of Antifa to really get the heat and momentum up for the violent and committed storm, I doubt that would have occurred without their involvement.

Laugh me outta court guys again lol, I’m used to it, I can take it on the chin. I can’t get that chip removed for just spilling my thoughts and feelings, however seemingly unempirical and skewed.

The potential is there for each and every one of us to commit heinous acts such as the ones seen at the capitol on the 6th.

When I studied WWII, I used to be confused as to how so many regular citizens could turn into such fascists monsters. It didn't make sense that people could buy into a man who claimed to be the only source of factual news and convince a whole country to follow him.

After the Trump years, I'm no longer confused.

Well I really must focus on self purification. I’ve been ignoring the wake up calls too long. I’ve never been religiously oriented, but I have become the firmest believer in Satan.

As a real entity, present literally everywhere.

And I kidded myself that I could just walk right on by.

This world is so so much bigger than Trump, the Capitol, anything and everything.

Satanism is the root and structure of this 3D simulation.

The question is, how to really avoid his channels and ladders and grip.

The world really truly is, and maybe always has been so far, in the clutches of Satan.

In America, we allow you walk around public with a sign that says "GOD IS DEAD". It's an example of protest that would fall under cancel culture.

It might work for you?

I get that sometimes things that are fucked up need to be illuminated but I get frustrated when people get hurt for stating facts OR having an opinion. We will never have meaningful discussions about things with this atmosphere of fear. Just people passively agreeing in public and talking shit later over beers with friends.

@TripSitterNZ @SteeleyJ did you guys read the article or any related coverage?

that headline - "Law Student Faces Disciplinary Action for Saying Women Have Vaginas During Gender Discussion" - is disingenuous and (deliberately i would assume) misleading. i believe it's intended to provke precisely this (cancel culture gone mad!) kind of reaction.

if you read the whole thing, you'll see there's a little more to it than that.

and, @PriestTheyCalledHim , as somebody who's been critical of mainstream media e.g.

They also do not look at politics or history from an entire perspective, parrot the media which they totally believe and don't really question or look at everything from different sources besides the mainstream media. This shows how many can't think for themselves and do not want to learn how to do this

it strikes me that you're doing exactly that here which is hypocritical at best.

and before you jump to an erroneous conclusion let me make it pretty clear, i lean left and, if a student had faced discipline just for saying "women have vaginas" i would agree that's ridiculous.

but she didn't.

Assuming anything will be a federal crime worthy of execution in the future.

I assume I'm screwed :/

Alasdair... I read this article but no I didn't go any further than this one. I do agree that Lot of these stories are also designed to inflame people. There is certainly not a widespread problem of transgender former men stealing the sports trophy. There may be some merit on a high level like Olympians but that's not this discussion.... but deffinitely the frequency in the media about it and the weird laws on the books is ALL about riling people up.
Cancel culture is a button that gets pushed alot to try to fire up the base and piss people off too.
" They're coming to steal your culture!!!!!.... fuck yeah Merica! Vote right"

That being said though.... I personally think the way people get hurt sometimes is bogus. I still stand by my post without any other info.. I tend to tilt right politically. I think the atmosphere has started to become one toxic to having an opinion other than the popular one and that isn't cool. I'm always open to hear people out.... that's just my 2c on the State of things.

It looks to me from this article * which again I haven't looked at any other sources* as if during a discussion on the legality she stated a few facts that aren't politically correct but scientifically true. The context might have been crazy... I don't know.

Anyone else NOT surprised at all that Chet Goldstein is getting cancelled?

I noticed you watched him at one point @mal3volent

When I watched him before everyone started hating him for being a racist piece of shit, I hated him for being a homophobic piece of shit. It was obvious for me from the get go that his heart wasn't really in it for moral reasons.

Protip: You don't get to hold the high ground just because you portray yourself as someone who hates pedophiles.

I hate that guy.

So what's everyone's opinion on this?

Ugh, that is borderline insanity. So yoga is racist because it's mostly white women n yoga classes? That's not racism, it's just the primary demographic that happened to get into yoga classes. Calling that racism is polluting the perception of the actual racism that exists and needs to be addressed.
