Anyone that's healed from HPPD?

every day i live with peak intense LSD visuals that is hppd not smoking two hits of cannabis and thinking some visual snow floaters and a headache is hppd when its just pretty much a normal day for everybody. You are making out this problem to be worse than what it is and thus making a issue out of nothing. A psychologist would tell you this aswell.

I'm sorry to hear that, no person should ever have to experience what you (and me) are experiencing. I truly wish that you were right, but no, what i have been dealing with the last 5 weeks is anything but normal. It's not a coincidence that i went from feeling great to after the cb use waking up with a messed up vision (VS, blurriness, extreme light sensitivity, halos, starbursts, flickering and the two visual hallucinations i got), dissociation, a wierd head pressure (like i have cotton in my head) and the brain fog. Also, there are several cases in the litterature, and on this and several other forums were people have gotten it after a single use of a psychedelic. But lets drop this now, it really doesnt matter what you believe, it doesn't change my symptoms.
 
Having HPPD doesn’t make you a specialist of HPPD even the neurologist are not sure. So don’t listen to the bullshit they said of course Visual snow floaters light sensitivity are symptoms of HPPD even if it could be VSS. But what I can say for sure its with time there is a big change it’ll get better but you have to stay away from drugs for a while including alcohol sleep well try to not focus on your symptoms even if it’s not easy I know that time is your best friend. When I first had HPPD I thought my life was over and now 8 months later I improved a lot I still have some visuals but I made a ton of progress and maybe with time I’ll be fully healed It’s definitely possible

Thanks for your understanding! If i've understod it right, HPPD symptoms depends much on which drug one used, where those that got it from LSD or mushrooms often gets it worse with the hallucinations/moving visual disturbances. The worst for me is the brain fog (inability to focus, decreased memory etc), anxiety, visual snow and inability to focus on things, like they look a bit out of focus, it also feels like my perception of time has been altered and that i'm walking around in a dream. The dreams are horrible as well.

Ofcourse i will stay away from drugs, even caffeine! Luckily i wasn't using drugs prior to this, except alcohol now and then, so that won't be hard. May i ask in what way you have improved? Have any of the symptoms objectively decreased or vanished? I'm so scared this is permanent and i really don't know what to think, alot of people (and the litterature) say that they've fully gone in to remission or have had a huge decrease of symptoms, but then there's also a ton of horror stories, so i can't but wonder if those saying that they have "healed" just have gotten used to it. The case reports below gives me some hope though, and then these two have used a hell of a lot more drugs then me, even synthetic cannabis.

Take it from me Brepp, thinking about hppd is the worst possible way to deal with HPPD. I know thats counter intuitive, but words like 'permanent' can induce a lot of stress, stress makes hppd worse, hppd makes stress worse. Its a deaths spiral. Mine was really bad, like full on acid trip 24/7 ( this was 15 years ago.)

Do I still have it...? Yeah.. I do but I don't care. It kind of gets better and you kind of learn to live with it, and those two together are good enough. Humans are very adaptable. People who wear progressive lenses have constant distortion in their visual field but the brain adapts and learns to pick out the important pieces to form an accurate representation of reality. This will happen to you, I guarantee it.

Just forget about it as best you can and live your life. Stay away from hallucinogens especially cannabis. I don't like to smoke it, I don't like to eat it or see it or smell it just get it the fuck away from me, in any form.
 
I still think it's not wrong to tell this guy he doesn't have hppd. Smoking pot once (maybe, just maybe after years of abuse, even that is a stretch) just isn't going to do that. Believing he has a permenant disorder when he doesn't will cause stress all of its own. Not to mention if whatever he is experiencing is stressing him out enough, a misdiagnosis that it sounds like is a self diagnosis is just going to hinder trying to treat whatever underlying issue he is having.

If I had to diagnose, I'd say he is experiencing ocd and hypochondria mixed with guilt/regret of his one time dipping his toes into the world of drug use. And I think any educated doctor would agree

Whos to say cannabis doesn't cause hppd? OP says he has hppd, so since hppd isnt something tangible you can point to on a map I don't think its my place to tell him he doesn't have it. I don't think a good neurologist would focus on telling somebody they are wrong as opposed to telling them how to get better when it comes to something like this though I guess thats up for debate.

We all crave validation as much as solutions, yes? I can tell you growing up the least helpful thing somebody could tell me was that what was happening in my head was not happening.

Not trying to invalidate him, I understand how bad it is to suffer from health phenomena, especially unexplained ones, and can relate how it can be to want to go with some random untestable self diagnosis. I am sure cannabis might could cause hppd, but from a single use? Extremely unlikely

My experience with hppd is that it’s mostly psychological. As has been said in this thread, if you’re thinking about hppd you’ll have hppd

I had moderate hppd after repeated lsd use. I was also smoking marijuana heavily at this time so that might ease your mind that I did indeed have it

but I honestly have had some form of visual alterations since the morning after waking up from my first trip. The more often I was dosing the stronger the hppd. If I concentrate on something I can conjure up psychedelic visuals still quite easily.

but once I stopped worrying about it, they went away unless I am trying to force them. So yeah I think it’s plausible that an intense marijuana experience could trigger something

Mine seems way more than psychological, I mean even nowadays a full year after my last low dose lsd, and years after before that, I wake up the moment I open my eyes with pretty pronounced acid visuals, I don't even have to tune into it. I also experience a lot of over visual problems that aren't even psychedelic geometric patterns these days, such as solid lines wiggling around all over the place, segments vibrating then disappearing and reappearing somewhere else rapidly, etc. Someone who had never used psychedelics would think they had a brain tumor if they woke up like this.

That doesn't sound like real hppd to me. you're probably just a hypochondriac. Why don't you go get a brain scan and show us where the mechanical problem is?

Its definitely real hppd, lol, stereotypically. Used to have bad dp/dr too, but that got a lot better. I have had brain scans, especially after my motorcycle wreck, nothing wrong. Are you being facetious because I said that to OP?

It gets worse with stress, I've noticed.
 
I'm sorry that was rude, but you get my point. Not what you wanted to hear, and not helpful in treating the problem. I would think that somebody with hppd would understand that better than anyone. It doesn't matter how severe it is, suffering is subjective. And since there is no tumor's size to measure, all there is to go off is anecdotes. Thats what you provided, thats what OP provided, whats the difference?

He smoked pot *one time*, and I took like 30 different psychedelics hundreds of times each
 
And you both have brains that behave differently under different circumstances. I say again, suffering is subjective. Really digest that for a second. No reason we should take your word for it any more than OPs.
